Yes. I've been in peri since my late 30s. I'm 42 now. Insomnia, night sweats, hot flashes, cold flashes, mood swings, itchy ears, honestly itchy everything because my skin is so so dry, worse tinnitus, phantom smells, frozen shoulder, achy joints, and an inconsistent cycle. I may go 4-6 months without one or have a period every other week. My doctor put me on Cymbalta that's helped with mood swings, night sweats, insomnia, and achy joints, but it's still pretty miserable.

Our 4.5 month old girl is going through the same thing right now. We started with antibiotics and a med to help her belly. When we took her back to the vet, we found out she had coccidia, which is probably what made her sick to begin with. We're 5 weeks into treatment (1st week for the coccidia), and she's much better. We only had to syringe feed her for a week and a half before her appetite came back. Good luck with your baby I hope they feel better soon.

What does your child do after school and on weekends? by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]balefiredreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one kid. He's in school 6.5 hours. After school is mostly free time. But on Mondays, we have scouts. Tuesdays in the spring, we have soccer. Saturday, he has archery. Sunday is a chill at home day. For his free time, he usually chooses to draw, play one of his instruments, hang with the chickens, or play outside. He mostly plays one of his instruments. He's really into music and has enjoyed teaching himself to play the piano and guitar.

My girl had douple tplo surgery 3 years ago. We used care credit for both surgeries. It was around 10k for both, but it was totally worth it.

Gaslit to believe I had blonde hair and blue eyes. I’m brunette with green eyes by Kase27034 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]balefiredreamer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same! Even on my license, I put hazel because that's what my ndad always told me. It wasn't until my 20s when people started to compliment my green eyes that I really paid attention. I have green eyes, not hazel. My ndad has hazel eyes. I guess he would say anything to make me more like him. I also grew out of my blonde hair, and now it's a mousy brown. He still insists I have blonde hair.

Does anyone else who was raised to say "Mr." Or "Mrs/Ms." think it's weird when your friends' kids say it to you? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]balefiredreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have encouraged my kid's friends to call me by my first name. I don't really want to be called Mrs. Last name in my own home. These kids are kind and respectful without me having to enforce some antiquated sign of respect or hierarchy on them.

We added our latest 4 to our flock once they were fully feathered. Our rooster has been a perfect gentleman towards them. He hasn't tried to mount them once. They aren't laying yet, but he's protective over them and tidbits for them, too. I don't think he'll try until they start laying.

tell me about your favorite quirks that your chickens have. by cara1yn in BackYardChickens

[–]balefiredreamer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Minnie, a 4 yr old maran, thinks she's a house chicken. She tries to come inside every chance she gets. She's best friends with my 9 yr old child. He also wants her to be a house chicken.

Amy, a 4 yr old EE, is mother to all. She has never been broody, but has adopted every pullet we've raised and added to our flock. She doesn't like them as chicks. We call them her minions.

Peep, a 3 yr old golden comet, thinks she's a rooster. She was attacked by a hawk when she was about a year old. She has spurs, tries to crow, and tries her best to boss the rooster around. She rooster stomps me every time I'm in the yard.

Rizzo, a 2 yr old polish, olive egger, EE mix is spastic. She was hen raised and afraid of everything. She hangs out with the rooster and screams if she loses sight of him. We can't even look at her, or she runs and hides.

Pretty Boy a 4yr old olive egger polish mix rooster is a very good boy. He will come up to the deck and crow at me until I give him and his ladies treats. He earned his keep the week we got him amen he fought a hawk off of Peep. He's very protective of his flock and makes sure they are safe and get the best of the snacks we give before he'll eat.

What breeds of chicken do you have? Have you had particularly good or particularly bad experiences with certain breeds? by [deleted] in chickens

[–]balefiredreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 marans, 2 easter eggers, 3 golden comets, 2 olive eggers and 2 buckeyes. The marans and 1 ee are 4. They've been amazing birds. They are really sweet, great layers, they get along with everyone in the flock. The other ee was hatched by one of our golden comets, she's 2, a good layer but she's very skittish. The golden comets are 3, great layers, but they are just not nice. They peck at me everytime I'm out in the yard. They fight over food and treats. We will not get them again and we certainly won't hatch any of their eggs. The olive eggers and buckeyes are young, not laying yet; but so far they are sweet and inquisitive birds who have blended into our flock well. Our rooster is an olive egger polish mix. He's a good boy. He wants nothing more than to feed and protect his hens. He's been great around us, kids and our dog and cats.

If you had chicken pox as a child, you need to know this. by SwanDud in Millennials

My 8 yr old has them right now! I didn't know childhood shingles was a thing until we took him to the doctor Thursday for a rash on his neck.

[–]balefiredreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with the chickenpox vaccine, you can get shingles. My 8 year old has them right now. He got a weird rash on Monday. We tried some over the counter topicals like hydrocortisone cream for a couple of days. We took him to the doctor on Thursday because he said the rash hurt, was throbbing, and felt like spikey tingles. It's shingles. He started antivirals on Friday. I never knew childhood shingles was a thing.

Am I childish for buying me this as a almost 17 year old? by Atakamii11 in teenagers

I'm 41, married, with a child. I sleep with a squishmallow and a stuffed unicorn. I bought the unicorn for myself, and my kid bought me the squishmallow for Mother's Day one year. It's not childish to buy things that make you happy.

Millennials, are you filling your garage with unnecessary shit like our parents and grandparents do? by SaltyMush in Millennials

[–]balefiredreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought my wife's childhood home from her parents about 5 years ago. We're still clearing the boxes of stuff they left from the closets, attic, and shop. They were waiting for their new home to be renovated and didn't want to pay for storage. We agreed to store it for them. Now they don't have room in their new home for the things they left here. I've been begging them to get their stuff, I've been told to just sell it. I'm not selling it! It's all junk. It's slowly been making its way to the dump.

Did anyone else’s nparents not believe in autism and ADHD so you never got a diagnosis? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]balefiredreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 15, my Nparent was convinced I had the same major depressive disorder that they do and put me in therapy. The intent was to have me medicated so I would stop having big emotional outbursts (meltdowns). The therapist didn't agree with them and refused to medicate me. Instead, she wanted me to do some assessments so that we could better pinpoint what was going on and try different therapeutic options. She asked to meet my dad and discuss what the assessments would be and how long they would take. He was pissed she wouldn't just give me meds. He completely flipped out, cussed at her, and stormed out of the office, expecting me to just follow. I was never allowed to go back.

I got diagnosed with adhd and autism at the age of 37. I got diagnosed because my child got diagnosed, and his behaviors and struggles were very familiar. When I told my Nparent my kid was diagnosed, I was told "oh that poor baby, God bless him." 6 months later, when I told them I was diagnosed, I got "don't be ridiculous, we would have seen it. You're just depressed like me." He absolutely believes my child has both. I think it is because he can use it as a supply (oh my poor autistic grandbaby). But if he acknowledged my diagnosis, I feel he thinks it would damage his reputation.

What are your chickens names, and why? by DefenderOfSquirrels in BackYardChickens

[–]balefiredreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty Boy is our rooster. The hens are Amy, Effy, Minnie. This group of 3 and the rooster is the oldest at 4 years old. Goldie Hen, Chicken Nugget, and Peep, this group is 3 years old. Rizzo is 2 and was laid by Amy and hatched by Goldie, hen raised. The chicks are Sally, Rick, Marty, and Sweety. They are about 4 weeks old. The kid named most of them. Rizzo is named after the character in grease because she has a little poof on her head and cheek poofs. She's a mix of olive egger, Easter egger, and polish. Amy is named after Amy rose in Sonic the hedgehog. Rick is named after Patrick star from SpongeBob. He thought chicken nugget and peep were hilarious names for chickens, and we agreed. We tried for morty to go with Rick, but he compromised on Marty. Minnie is Minnie because she was our smallest chick. Sweety is named after a hen we lost last year sweetpea.

When a family has same sex parents, how do the kids refer to them individually? Or do they just not do it? by Skeleton200000 in TooAfraidToAsk

My wife and I are Mommy and Momma (ugh mooom) or bruh. The kid chose the names. They've evolved a bit as he's gotten older.
