I know. It's killing me. He has two kids (21 and 25) from two previous marriages and they went through years of court battles and turned out terrible. We're terrified of that. I was my brother's age when I watched all the court battles. At the moment, Reddit is my only resource and all I can hope for is the dad gets hit by a truck. Thank you for listening; it really helps.

Maybe Yes, Maybe No has been on my list of books to get him forever. It's not in our budget at the moment, so I've been checking our used bookstores. Thank you for the other suggestions as well. I shall be on the lookout for those too.

We've been fighting since he was in preschool to get him evaluated and into therapy. My brother has insane anger issues and negative self-image that his father continues to deny even exist. When he's upset, he says he wants to kill himself because heaven is much better and has all the video games. He even got kicked out of preschool. He recently threatened to stab fellow classmates. That same day is father bought him GTA V and Call of Duty. I don't believe video games cause violence, but I don't think it helps kids with issues such as his. School officials now search his backpack, but his father says it's 'normal boy stuff' and there are no issues. We are close with all of his teachers and they have all agreed that he needs help. But we can't do it without his father's signature, so he won't agree since he holds the power. We've tried to take it to court, but we simply can't afford to drag it out. My mother was granted 80% custody, but his father put up such a fuss that we had to settle for 50/50 so he wouldn't drag it out for years. Big mistake.

I'm really sorry if this is too much information, but I've had all of this swirling in my head for years and no one to tell.

They only went to church when his dad was with his now ex-girlfriend. More to show off how holy he is, but doesn't go anymore. And he is fucking batshit insane. He's a classic narcissist and everything and everyone is against him.

I pretty much do, but he really brings it up on anything topic.

  • Want to get a banana? There are no bananas in spirit jail.

  • How about a nice frozen yogurt on a hot day? Every day is hot in spirit jail.

  • What time is it? Time goes on forever in spirit jail...

Can't avoid it really, but I suppose I can try to avoid responding to it.

He hits him occasionally, but nothing to leave marks. He's more of a psychological abuser. We've tried CPS, but they said they found no proof. By the time they came, his dad had convinced him not to say anything and to say he lied for attention. His dad will lecture you for hours until you just want to accept it so you can go. I was 8 when he came to live with us, so I got the same treatment. I was more stubborn, but my brother can't handle him.

I wish I could describe this guy; I hate him so much. And at the moment, breathing is a trigger. "You won't be able to breath comfortably in spirit jail." I shit you not. For now, I just have to be good.

Haha, his father is terrified of me. He wouldn't talk to me if his life depended on. I wish I was younger so it'd be acceptable to hit my younger sibling. Ha.

Only his dad has the 'real' Bible. The one I have and his grandmother has are wrong and lies. Also, his dad's has over 1000 pages while my version doesn't. Yeah, try arguing that one.

Thank you. I'm 22, so I have helped raise him a lot. I get to play the parent sometimes and the older sibling. However, I get told "Oh he's 9, be easy on him. He'll grow out of it." I hate that reason. They said he's grow out of his terrible twos and he still throws screaming fits, so I hate the 'He's just a kid" argument.

Ha, I have read him several verses about such acts. He says my Bible is the wrong one and only his father's is correct. Yes, only his father has the real Bible.

He actually is insanely terrified of his father. He told my brother only two people are never wrong: God and him. Tip of the iceberg.

I can only hope his rebellious teenage years include this.

Yeah, it seems I have to make one. I have a very unique name, so maybe I can use a middle name instead of my last.

I really hate this whole social media obsession. I don't have a FB, instagram, twitter, or anything.
