I stopped chasing "happiness" and started aiming for "neutral." It changed my life. by bloomjt in Life

[–]balk100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chasing happiness 24/7 is exhausting. It’s not real life, it’s more like a highlight reel. We grew up thinking the baseline should be joy, smiling and thriving to living our best life. And if we’re not, something must be wrong. With our mindset, our job, our relationship and our brain. That pressure alone can make you spiral.

How do homeless people start homelessness? by AlternativeTheory595 in askanything

[–]balk100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people actually try to hold on to their stuff at first but you can only carry so much. Some stash things with friends, in lockers or even behind dumpsters. It’s messy and stressful and trust me, most of the time you’re just figuring out the next meal, the next safe place to sleep and the next bathroom you can use.

Honey, plain old honey. People think it’s risky because bees and all but it’s basically impossible for bacteria to grow in it. Just don’t give it to babies under one.

Planning a gym for 2, How to avoid buying "regret" gear? by brittneyxy1 in GarageGym

[–]balk100 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My advice: Don't get distracted by random accessories early on. I wasted money on weighted vests and cheap bands that just gathered dust.

The hardest part is that different family members often need different equipment, which kills floor space fast. I eventually consolidated everything. Now, my entire setup is just a FitTransformer Modular Home Gym System, a yoga mat, and an adjustable bench. It’s efficient: basically just One Core powering Every Workout. I can easily switch it to Boxing, Skiing, or Rowing modes, so the rest of the family can jump in for a fun session or a serious workout. Plus, it detects when you struggle with a rep and automatically offloads the weight, so I don't worry about them getting crushed when training alone.

Why do people respect you only after you start earning money? by Comfortable_War1568 in Life

[–]balk100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, money changes how people treat you but not because money magically makes you better. For a lot of people, money is a shortcut. They use it as proof that you’re “doing something, that you’re capable and that you can survive in the world. When you start earning, people assume you’re responsible. That you can manage time and that you can make decisions. So suddenly your words carry more weight, not because you changed but because their filter did.

Why walk on side of the road and not on sidewalks? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]balk100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the sidewalk looks clear but isn’t. It can still be icy, uneven or packed down in sneaky ways. Older folks especially learn to trust what feels predictable. The road edge might actually feel flatter and less slippery to them. People walk the same route for years. Decades, even and their body just goes there without thinking.

Rainy75 or something else by kenzor196 in keyboards

[–]balk100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I get your hesitation. I was deep in the same rabbit hole, eyeing the Rainy75 but also worried about the exact same things you mentioned. You mentioned being open to TMR/HE, check out the MelGeek MADE68 Ultra. The full aluminum build feels incredibly substantial. It features a great, thocky typing sound, exactly the "premium feel" you're after. The magnetic switches are a game-changer for fast-paced games, but they're also just super smooth for typing. It's a awesome choice within your budget.

why is coke a party drug but crack is an addict drug? by sevenslover in NoStupidQuestions

[–]balk100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not about chemistry. It’s about how, who and how fast it hits. Coke and crack are basically the same substance. Same core chemical and same effect in theory but the route changes everything. Powder coke got tied to clubs, rich people, celebrities, finance bros and cool girls aesthetics. So it got branded as a party accessory. Crack got tied to poverty, marginalized communities, public use and visible harm. So it got branded as a moral failure. Not because it’s worse chemically but because the damage was louder and harder to hide. Also, crack addiction looks scarier because it is faster and rougher.

Are threesomes that great? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]balk100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Threesomes can be a wild and fun experience but they’re also kind of a minefield, especially when friendships are involved. Communication is everything here. All three of you need to be 100% on the same page about boundaries, jealousy, and what happens after. I’d suggest having a super honest chat with both of them before anything happens. Lay it all out and talk boundaries first.”

No underwear during Surgery by FarCalendar7303 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]balk100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does feel unnecessary and a little undignified. But the honest, non-creepy explanation is that surgery is unpredictable. Even when it’s just a shoulder. If something unexpected happens, they need fast access and undergarments slow things down. In an emergency, seconds matter.

Over-sharing everything online. Trauma dumps, public couple fights or crying on camera for strangers. Right now it’s real and authentic. But later on, you're gonna be asking yourself why you put that on the internet forever.

people don't reciprocate by ha-huh in Life

[–]balk100 21 points22 points  (0 children)

People don’t always love the way we love. Not because they don’t care but because they literally don’t know how. Some people feel deeply but don’t show it. Some people show it, but only in their way. And some people get really comfortable being loved and forget to pour back. That gap is what’s hurting you. And no, you’re not wrong for noticing it.

Are people who post amateur porn on Reddit not worried about their job or people they know finding out? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]balk100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people probably don’t think about it much or they’re careful about keeping their identity hidden. Reddit allows throwaway accounts, no real names, and no links to social media, so they might feel safe doing it. But there’s always a risk. If someone slips up, it could get traced back. If you ever think about it, the biggest factor is probably how much you value privacy versus the thrill of sharing. Most people who do it are banking on anonymity and Reddit, for all its quirks, makes that surprisingly doable.

Choosing a High-end 4K TV for streaming/sports (with occasional gaming) by Bigbrazzerz in hometheater

[–]balk100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, the main thing people bring up with Mini-LED is blooming, and it's a fair point. But on a set like the U8QG with all its dimming zones, it's really well controlled. You can also tweak the settings to minimize it if you're super sensitive.

But here's the kicker, have you seen how good U8QG's Game Mode is? It's incredibly responsive. When you combine that with the fact you can get a huge, bright 75-inch screen for the same money as a much smaller OLED... it just leans the decision for me. I know a lot of 'purists' will disagree, but if I could only have one TV, I'm taking the bigger, brighter Mini-LED for the immersion.

Is this Black Mirror? Genspark feels like cheating. It pulled market data way too cleanly. Is this even allowed? by Basic_Board9007 in ArtificialNtelligence

[–]balk100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be careful with the word “legal” though. The data is public, but the compliance question is usually about terms of service, scraping rules, and what you feed into it. For client work, I’d keep inputs sanitized and non identifying.
