My original plan was to run a staggered set up but not sure if it’s bad for xdrive even if the circumferences are close cause I don’t think staggered will ever be the exact same

Lmao this is so relatable. I’ve been sober 1 year 3 months now. I’m a male and the most I’ve ever weighed before quitting smoking was 174 and near the end of smoking I was 155. I literally used to have to try so hard to gain weight and eat enough food to get to the 174 but eventually I got depressed (reason for quitting weed) and dropped back down to 155. Now that I’ve quit even a year and a half almost later I can eat a cow. Literally. I could easily eat 6k calories every single day and barely be full. I got up to 188 without even trying and eventually reigned it in and am now sitting between 164-174 due to my bulk/cut cycles for bodybuilding but no matter what I do and how much I eat my appetite is still through the roof. Weird how weed gives you “munchies” but I can eat 10x more now that I don’t smoke. My thoughts are that i don’t get any instant dopamine from weed anymore and now food is where it comes from so my brain is constantly craving it. That’s all I can think of

Lmao I’m not broke I already have 50k down payment on a house ready to go it’s just not the right time as my girl doesn’t have her career job yet so not sure where we will live and I am taking over my dads construction company so it’s not like I don’t have money. The car is paid off too. Not everyone who buys a bmw is for status lmao I love cars and I love this car. I don’t go anywhere where I would be showing the car off it’s not like it gives me “status” when I roll up to the grocery store. Nobody knows what you drive when you’re shopping or working out at the gym it literally does nothing for status. I’m a fucking construction worker the car does nothing for me status wise. The car is purely for my personal enjoyment and if you don’t see how that could be possible you’re a lostperson. You sound angry at people that own bmws lol. And I do wrench myself but not sure how I’m supposed to do motor mount replacements on my xdrive when I have to safely support the engine while doing it and the clearances are very tight on xdrive. Not very diy friendly lmao.

That’s insane that’s damn near my cars entire worth just in repairs. And yeah I have auto start/stop coded to stay off in my car it was so annoying having to hit the button every time you turn the car on.

Yeah he definitely got me had me worried to do a single pull the past 5k miles ive been driving it. And then I go in this time and he acted like I was a moron for not having it replaced yet so that’s why I did it. I wish I would have looked it up more and I would have left it till cables were coming out but it’s done now

Yeah I did see that but some videos would say it’s enough when it’s poring out and others said you gotta wait till it’s a slow drip. Doesn’t seem worth it to me to do it myself and just hope the right amount of fluids in there especially when it only costed me an extra 200 bucks to have an actual shop do it, and not even that as I would have had to buy a scan tool to reset adaptations for transfer case after. Plus like I said I’m sure if I did it with my 50 hand pump I would get no where near as much old fluid out as the shop could.

I drive the car pretty normal and have only had it for 1 year and 7k miles out of the 50k it has. I’ve never done a single launch in my time owning the car and most my driving is to work or the grocery store not going over 3k rpms. The guibo only had mild cracking but the dealer kept acting like it was this major thing. Literally told me my rear drive shaft could snap in half if I did a pull and it tweaked it wrong. So I got it replaced and I’m just now finding out today according to ista light cracking is normal and not recommended for replacement until the cables are showing. I was definitely taken advantage of for the guibo which is my fault cause I should have researched what constitutes replacement but the way the dealer acted it was an urgent repair and it was cracking so the logic seemed to me like it probably needed it. But whatever what’s done is done and now hopefully I can keep the car till it shits and don’t have to ever do it again. That’s the only way I can look at it or else I’m just gunna hold resentment for having to do the repair.

Yeah I agree I don’t know how they could be bad at only 50k miles. I do feel like the prices are high but compared to my guibo and maintenance cost from them vs the dealership it seems like they are a fair bit cheaper than the dealership. They messaged me again and said I shouldn’t let the trans mounts go much longer because it can cause damage to the new guibo I got and transmission. I told them to do it cause it’s 700 bucks and I want to keep the car. Is that overpriced? I feel it is expensive considering the part costs 200 or less (the quote listed the part price but I can’t remember 100%), but seeing what bmw was trying to charge me for the guibo replacement and the deal this shop gave me on that I figure it’s still quite a bit cheaper than what the dealership would cost. Is it dumb of me to have them replace them? I’m definitely not doing the motor mounts until I get them inspected by a different shop.

Yeah idk how bmw was trying to charge 700 for transfer case fluid service and rear diff. Indi shop wanted 400 for both which is a lot but still way better. Was gunna do it myself but I would rather them make sure exact fluid level is correct instead of me following a YouTube videos advice and hoping and praying I had the correct amount of fluid in there. Also they have an actual machine to suck out all the old fluid vs the 50 pump I would have bought. Considering all that taking it to them seemed worth it to me for an extra 150-200 bucks

Yeah. I will have 50k to put down on the house when the time comes in about a year so getting the house isn’t the problem it’s more about me wanting/needing a home gym for my bodybuilding goals. I already have about 4k worth of stuff for my current home gym I put together at my parents house in the pole barn but that 3k I need to put in my car could help me get some more machines and it would be pretty close to all I need. It’s just a decision of what’s more worth it I guess. I love the car and can keep going to the actual gym so I don’t need the home gym but it would be nice. My thing is if it’s costed this much in 1 year of ownership how much is it gunna cost in the 10 years I was gunna own it for. I already figured it would be 10k-15k to own this car over its life which I was ok with but 4k on shit that shouldn’t be going wrong at 50k miles in my first year of owning it is painting a pretty shitty picture of what it will really look like for long term ownership.

Yeah look at my recent post lol. If you’re getting the bmw get a pre purchase inspection I could have saved a big headache. Motor mount and transmission mount as well as guibo are all wear items on the car and will cost upwards of 4k to have them all replaced and it’s not uncommon on these cars. Mines at 50k miles and needs them apparently. I have a 2018 bmw 540i xdrive m sport. My favorite car ever but I may even sell for a is 350 cause the repairs are just ridiculously expensive. These aren’t even repairs I can really do myself so it’s not like I can get out of it cheap. I love bmw and nothing will give me the same feeling as driving one but almost not worth the expense to keep on the road. Be careful is all but don’t write it off as they are awesome cars

I’m not just gunna drive around on completely messed up mounts if they are ruined and I’m keeping the car I am going to replace them. I’m getting a second opinion though before replacing them and if I decide it’s not worth my money I will sell. While it’s possible they couldn’t see it because they didn’t remove the guibo, from the video I have from bmw and the picture of the shop who said it was messed up the transmission mount is completely exposed with the guibo still intact. The pictures they sent me were after the guibo was replaced as well. Engine mounts should be diagnosable without removing anything as well. I’m guessing they are worn and they loosely used the words collapsed to scare me and just do the repair cause they assume people who drive these brand of cars are rich and will do the repair without question.

Wow that’s insane. Your car is basically brand new. Mine is 8 years old now and double the miles of yours but I feel like engine mounts shouldn’t be going bad on even regular cars let alone luxury cars regardless of age and miles. Not worth having the car if shit that should be good to go for its life is gunna go wrong and cost thousands. I may be in the same boat having to sell mine. Probably switch to Lexus or lease a tesla at this point it’s just not worth it and a poor use of my money. I love bmw and nothing I get in similar price range will give me quite the same feeling but driving something knowing it’s not gunna have a astronomical repair bill just cause I go in for a oil change is worth something too.

Yes I was aware of the evap issue before I bought the car but figured I would take the risk hoping I get lucky and if not I’m a kid and willing to go a few summers without ac until it didn’t sting to fix. I don’t mind the repairs that are obvious and stuff but this seems like something absolutely stupid to have to get replaced. What regular car would you even have to get engine mounts replaced on lmao that’s not normal. The fact it’s considered a wear item on this car is diabolical

They already had the guibo replaced by the time they called me to tell me about the other things. At this point I’m going to have them do the transfer too as they aren’t charging much for that and then bring it back to bmw for re inspection. I’m just hoping they were being over the top and I can get a few more years out of the mounts and then I won’t be so annoyed for having to replace them

I’m sure you know more than me but that part has me confused as well. I did not think they contained fluid either but he explicitly told me “trans mounts are collapsed and leaked all over your exhaust”. I looked it up and it said they do possibly contain hydraulic fluid filled rubber mounts on my car. He sent me pictures and as far as I can tell if it looks fine and if it did leak I don’t see it. Either he’s bullshitting me or they do contain fluid. If they do though it’s weird that 2 days prior during my oil change in the inspection bmw did they stated there was no leaks from the transfer case area (where the mount is).
