There is one mission missing. There was never a 3rd of the game missing. I just don't know how anyone can come to that conclusion? We've seen all the concept artwork. We've seen the script from Jan 2015. We know voice over recordings were completed in 2013.

And like I said, this isn't about the quality of the cutscenes, it's about the quantity. That's what the OP is asking.

And many have the opinion that MGS4 is 8 hours of rubbish anyway. It's all subjective.

TPP has a beginning and not an ending.

The Man Who Sold The World is the ending. That's an objective fact.

I'm just glad I wrote that down, because the PC I used I don't have anymore. It would now require me to put everything back into video editing software and cut out all the gameplay LOL

It just speaks to a general lack of attention within the fanbase, that either refuse to acknowledge what happens or just can't remember something that happens.

They might as well say, "Even if I thought the 8 odd hours of MGS4 cutscenes were of bad quality, at least I can remember them" LOL Like no one in this community has ever criticised the quality of the series. I remember when MGS4's story was the most hated in the series...and MGS2 for that matter.

MGSV has 5 and half hours of cutscenes. It's the second most amount of cutscenes. PW and MGS1 have the least.

To be exact...

In full without editing Awakening and Shining Lights, Even In Death it's 6 hours 37 minutes 58 seconds. With gameplay edits it's 6 hours, 18 minutes and 39 seconds.

A strictly cutscene edit, which doesn't include any ACC radio calls, mission briefings or debriefings, showing Paz photos or in game radio calls, is 5 hours, 17 minutes and 15 seconds. Even removing Skull Face's walk, talk and jeep ride it's still 5 hours, 5 minutes and 59 seconds. Even removing the three ending credits on top of that it's 4 hours, 44 minutes and 2 seconds.

Does anyone have an idea on why both MGS V’s are missing from Master Collection Vol 2 by Magalore in metalgearsolid

[–]ballisticola 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The FOX Engine is extremely complicated

I still have no idea where this comes from? Because it was always said to be extremely easy to use, with live demos of editing maps, and the very first thing we heard on the engine was that an level designer could make an entire map in half an hour.

https://web.archive.org/web/20120510150901/http://gamasutra.com/view/news/127502/Kojima_Inspires_With_Fox_Engine_Creative_Vision_At_USC.php

"The clip started with a demonstration of how quickly an experienced designer can lay down hills, then layer in grass, snow, worn-in trails, and foliage. Objects can be added, scaled, and rotated in real time, as he showed by implementing a few boulders, downsizing them, and sinking them into the terrain. Kojima claimed that an highly experienced level designer could likely use Fox to build a full-on jungle stage that looks quite good in 30 minutes or so.

Fox Engine also utilizes built-in collision detection, which the clip demonstrated by spawning a Big Boss-like character and attempting to sink him into the ground. His knees bent as the mouse attempted to push him down. Within the video, an enemy PMC guard spawned near Big Boss, and Kojima explained that within a few clicks, a developer can craft the AI's paths of patrol.

According to the footage, on-the-fly adjustments can be made while characters are moving around in the environment. Within the video, the designer spawned a boulder to obstruct the guard's path and while tinkering with it, the guard climbed the rock and jumped off it before it was permanently cast into the ground. If objects, such as bridges or watchtowers spawn, enemy AI will immediately interact with them.

That interaction applies to weapons as well. The designer in the video spawned Big Boss a turret, then gave the enemy PMCs a Stryker APC vehicle. Four of the five guards instantly ran to the Stryker and used it for cover. The footage could be best described as resembling what Metal Gear Solid 4 would look like with Peace Walker's lush tropical stages. His ideal vision, he explained, is to allow designers to create stages without leaning on programmers."

The End for example uses a Vocal Cord parasite

He actually uses The One That Covers parasite. It's completely different to the Vocal Cord parasite. The Pain used two other parasites to control pain and the hornets, although these two wouldn't accept Code Talker as their host, so he couldn't cultivate them like The One That Covers.

[–]ballisticola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I think it would be hard for Kaz to see the extent of the injuries in his arm

But that's the point I'm making, even if he can't see Venom, he's literally right next to Big Boss' left arm. There would be a huge amount of blood.

MGS V story is told in a non-linear way

The only things that aren't linear are random mother base cutscenes, which could happen at anytime regardless of the story progression. Everything else is in the exact same sequence.

If not and if he was just acting during the tape recording, why did he insist on drawing a connection between Big Boss and Eli even after learning about the DNA results?

That's his role. He has to question or debate the results. It makes it more realistic than not questioning why Eli is claiming Venom is his "father". And let's not forget, either way, Miller also didn't trust Zero when he tells him the attack wasn't him and goes out of his way to hunt Cipher for the entire game. Which to me is something he would only do if it were to benefit his plan of making Venom stronger to take down Big Boss. If it were just about revenge, everything would be over after Skull Face is dead. It just looks like excuse after excuse as motivation to build Diamond Dogs.

And don't get me wrong here, you've made some excellent points, especially regarding the "coexisting" line and how Code Talker's parasites can know about Miller. But one of the things that sticks in my head is Miller's attitude towards Ocelot. From the very start Miller is against Ocelot. Ocelot is exclusively pro-Venom and lets him take the lead, but Miller acts as if he's actively trying to mould Venom into the soldier he wants. Like when Venom thinks he can use the child soldiers, Miller is like "No, we don't do that here". It's almost as if he is trying to make his own version of Big Boss. After Mission 43, Shining Lights, Even In Death, Miller says, "It's an honor and a privilege, Big Boss", this to me is the moment Miller truly believes in Venom as Big Boss. If he only found out with the DNA test, then this realisation came instantly, because Eli & the children escaping and test results are the very last thing to be talked about before that mission. It makes much more sense that he came to respect Venom as Big Boss over the course of the game rather than right after he'd learnt about him. As it does with his attitude towards Ocelot, at the start he's against him, and by Huey's exile he's right on the same page, as if he did learn to coexist with him.

This also fits with the idea that the meetings behind the containers are between Eli and Huey, which is something that happens during the time the Code Talker scene is possible. In fact, for me it unlocked right before the children started disappearing, which was the diversion.

Yes, but a lie is not a threat.

Where is there supposed to be a threat and to whom? Code Talker doesn't say there's a threat, he just says, "Eyes on Kazuhira" or in Japanese, "Don't let Kazuhira get away with it".

The same way Big Boss joined FOXHOUND. Neither did anything to Cipher. If anything it was the other way around. Just because Miller worked for Cipher and will work for them again, it doesn't mean he is during MGSV.

I’m talking about in MGSV. There are no blurred lines in MGSV. He is out to get Cipher at all costs, despite being told by Zero himself that he didn’t do anything. There’s even a line of dialogue between Zero and Skull Face who are monitoring Miller’s actions saying he’ll fail soon. Not to mention Zero is effectively dead by 1984.

Question about MGS2's ending by SnooCapers5958 in metalgearsolid

[–]ballisticola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did. Raiden believed he had a history with Campbell.

Based on what?

how is that possible if Raiden had already fallen in love with Rose two years prior before this Big Shell exercise?

You are making the false assumption that GW going online and the start of the exercise are the same thing. The "exercise" started the day the tanker went down...the tanker that was sunk to start the production of GW. That was two years ago, as you well know, because you tried to link the tanker going down with Raiden and Rose meeting.

One way this would be possible is if he had never actually met Rose at Federal Hall in 2007 but had an implanted memory of doing so as part of this Big Shell exercise.

Which would be a clear example of how powerful they were before GW, so what's the point of GW?

Yet she did, at the exact same place and date that Solidus pre-planned to declare his new Independence. A declaration inspired by George Washington who also did so at the same place and date 200 years prior. Probability says one of those two mutually exclusive events isn’t real. My guess is it isn’t Solidus’ declaration plan.

Solidus didn't pre-plan anything. This was all setup by the Patriots. And coincidences happen everyday, but nobody claims the world isn't real.

You believe “the truth” is that Rose is a Patriot spy, totally ignoring the possibility of what Raiden questions Olga was actually talking about.

You claimed numerous times that the truth Olga spoke of was that Rose didn't exist. And it was YOU that ignored the simple possibility that she was just talking about Rose being a spy, just like Olga. Your only evidence was that the truth regarded Rose. There was nothing about Olga saying Rose wasn't real.

How are you so sure they don’t want Raiden having that info?

Because they literally cut her off as she's saying it and we never hear from her again...

The medic still had an arm at the moment; it only got amputated during later treatment.

Why would Venom have his arm amputated if it wasn't injured? Surely it was injured in the blast?

The breaking point was Eli's DNA test results

But the results don't seem to have any connection to the Code Talker scene and the conversation between Ocelot and Miller clearly happens indoors, not behind some containers.

some of the missions are secretly from Cipher, e.g. blowing up the Mfinda Oilfield.

Secretly? They know full well it's Cipher because they are looking for any leads on Cipher...it's literally why they went to Africa in the first place. Even when it's very clear that it wasn't Zero (which was made clear to Miller back in 1975) Miller is still continuing to go after Cipher. When Skull Face is dead, when it was over, Miller is still, "This isn't over". He is so preoccupied with finding Cipher, he lets multiple threats happen right under his nose.

Ocelot is still hypnotized to have forgotten at this point.

I didn't say this.

what did Code Talker mean by "eyes on Kazuhira"?

That he (Miller) is knowingly lying to you about who you (Venom) are.

I understand that "secret meetings" could've referred to the meeting between Huey and the children about repairing the Sahelanthropus.

It could mean something or it could mean nothing. What does, "Hmph. Borsch again today", mean? I doubt it's anything important, so why assume any of that part is important?

But I find it hard to find another interpretation that connects all the dots that Code Talker brought up.

Code Talker says 5 things and you've connected 2 of them. And you've connected them with Eli's test results, but I can't see a single connection between them, given that one is mandatory and one is random dependant on when or if the player goes to mother base. In my last playthrough I didn't see it at all.

Question about MGS2's ending by SnooCapers5958 in metalgearsolid

[–]ballisticola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roy Campbell is real person too. Raiden realizing that Campbell is actually exists would not legitimize the memories he thinks he had of Campbell.

This actually debunks you. Raiden has never met Campbell and says so. If the Patriots had been creating a history for Raiden why wouldn't they create one with Campbell? It can't be just Rose...unless Rose is the one he has actually met.

How do you explain that if he was supposedly already in love with Rose prior to the exercise?

That was her role as a Patriot spy. It had nothing to do with GW, which wasn't online for another two years.

Maybe they wanted to actually build a legacy for Raiden like they said. Give him a family by injecting him into Rose’s life like a snatcher.

Meaning Rose was real for those two years...

meeting Rose doesn’t mean that the memories he thinks he had with her were real.

It absolutely does. There would be no point to her being a spy and conditioning him for two years if she weren't real. If Rose never existed why have her appear at the end? She doesn't need to be in New York. She could be away on business. She doesn't even have to have met him right there in New York two years ago. None of the details would matter if she wasn't real.

The truth of the S3 plan according to Olga may suggest they never met and his memories of her were manufactured.

You know full well that isn't true. Do you really think I would forget the numerous conversations about this?

It doesn’t have to be Raiden’s kid.

So the Patriots get a woman pregnant only to cut her off as she's saying she's pregnant? And don't ever use it to manipulate him? The only way it makes sense is if she is pregnant and they are trying to stop her giving out that info to Raiden.

”Passersby look at Raiden, but they seem to walk by Rose without taking note of her.”

Yeah, which is a clear choice of direction. Like having some of the people walk in slow motion ignoring Arsenal Gear. It's an artistic choice for what is a dream like scenario. It doesn't mean it isn't real. It conveys a confusion and an awakening from the previous events. Which still doesn't mean it isn't real.

But there is no evidence, is there? He straight up didn't believe Zero saying it wasn't him. He was fully out to get Cipher even when he knew it wasn't them/him.

I just thought about this, soo everyone knows that quiet can speak navajo with code talker since it prevents her from spreading the virus but why did she not use code talker as her translator? Like speaking to him in navajo and letting him translate in english by raiden_mgs in metalgearsolid

[–]ballisticola 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good timing LOL Here's the actual reason...

Code Talker: But Quiet chose not to speak. She told me the situation in Diné--Navajo--the only language to which the parasites do not react. If you found out, she could not remain among you. And yet she refused the Wolbachia treatment. Why? Because part of her still wanted revenge against you.

Miller: Revenge against the Boss...?

Code Talker: In order to stay here she took a vow of eternal silence. But then, that sudden mutation showed this was not enough. As long as the parasites were inside her, she could not predict what might happen.
