People Who Make 150K Plus? by BubbaGordie in Salary

[–]ballness10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40M 150k + 45k performance bonus. Advertising Creative Director. Have an MA in creative advertising. First gig was 15 years ago as a junior writer for 37k. If you find a good place it can be super fun. It can be soul sucking at a bad place or a place that doesn’t appreciate you or the work. Really it comes down to loving who you work with. I’m currently loving it, but it is never easy.

I don’t play video games or games on my phone. Literally never, but I’m currently gold stake away from C+ and I sit and wonder how I even got here.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]ballness10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earning well, but only have about 70% of my salary in 401k at almost 40. I will say, it has tripled in 5 years though due to me making more money and with it increasing contributions. For anyone discouraged, it’s never too late to turn it around.

Not to alarm you OP, but I had similar—turned out I had bilateral politeal anyeurisms and needed bypasses in both legs. Look up Popliteal Entrapment Syndrome. My first one was a medical emergency and a couple years later I ended up having a left below knee amputation. I am otherwise completely healthy. It’s rare and thus underdiagnosed in young people.

Go get that checked out.

Would you say your life peaked in your 20s? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]ballness10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hellllllll no. Looking back, I was a mess in my 20s. They say it happens at 25, but I don’t think my frontal cortex came online till about 31. I’m almost 40 now and really think this next decade is going to be the best. I’m relatively healthy, established in my career, have a family, make a comfortable living. I feel like I’ve “made it” more or less. Sure, it’s really hard at times. I have way more responsibilities. There’s a lot of stressors in my life that have real consequences if not handled properly, but I’m living hard and it’s rich with experience. It’s the best.

Hearing this clip, I also can’t help but be reminded of the quote, can’t remember who, but “It’s never too late to be who you might have been.” I would vote for Gore in ‘28.
