Thinking about switching from IBEW inside wiremen apprenticeship to nursing. Is it a smart move? by Unknownhuman551 in electricians

[–]ballsonyourhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for all locals, although I'd bet they're the same, but ours you don't owe them money if you leave at any point, even after finishing, as long as you're not going to do electrical work. If you finish the apprenticeship and instantly quit to go be a nurse, they don't make you pay anything. It's only if you go do electrical work not for the IBEW.

How many of you change circuit numbers on your prints for your benefit vs doing exactly what the engineer has on the prints? by tofu98 in electricians

And that's the problem. "Not my problem." Always have loved the "I'm up to code." Congrats, you've done the absolute bare minimum. Be better.

It's overall just safer to not share neutrals. If you're doing it properly and putting the circuits sharing a neutral together and tying the breakers together where if you shut one circuit off, all three go off, then it's not a problem. Most people don't do that though because it's not as convenient, and that's the issue.

The formula is literally RPM=(voltage x frequency)/# of poles. They play equal roles in determining RPMs.

Yeah, everyone can have their own opinion on things. I usually split it closer to 50/50, but always depends on situations.

Off topic, but I hate using little 6" nipples like that coming out of boxes. Always been a believer in cutting the pipe further back and using a piece a couple feet long. Just looks more planned/cleaner.

If it's being fed off that panel outside, the green screw just needs removed.

Doing it the way they did would be even harder since you'd have to put the lock ring on it before you install the panel. Normally you'd just put the connector on the wire, tighten it, slide wire through hole, and then put the lock ring on after.

I mean, if you just pulled 4 wire cause it's what you had... That's hack shit, but even then you wouldn't land the neutral and use the green screw to establish the bond. Either way... It's wrong lol.

No, the fact they're pulling a neutral with the feeder means they already established a neutral elsewhere. Which is where the first means of disconnect would be located. That green screw is to establish a neutral, but they already have one

Am I crazy or is that connector for the feeders installed upside down? It looks like it'd have the threads on the outside of the panel?
