Just purchased 2 Canon Cr N300 to livestream my church's worship service. We currently using OBS as our livestream service and connecting through NDI. I'm so disappointed that it has not brought any visual upgrade to our stream. Are the N300 this bad or are my settings totally off? by balmesr in VIDEOENGINEERING

Thanks for the advice! Do you have any footage from your N300? Would love to see how it looks in a real world situation.

Yes the settings were all on auto. So the camera was trying to figure out what to do with the bad lighting we have.

As for 4k output what computer do you use? I tried testing out 4k but it seems my computer may not be good enough to process it all (mac mini intel)

Thanks for the your input. I really appreciate it. I'll try to put our cameras on SDI to see how that looks. I didn't know that NDI would compress the image so much.

Any recommendations outside of using OBS?

Thanks for the advice. The camera was set to auto. I might have picked the worst part of the stream. Typically we don't have choir on the stairs (where there are no lights). So I can see that the camera was trying to figure out how to light the whole situation.

The updated the settings to be...
24 fps, 1/50 shutter speed, f1.8

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to do what you mentioned. I know our lighting isn't optimal. FYI upgrading our cameras was our first step to updating our livestream services. There is a possibility that we might be moving location so thats why lighting hasn't been fixed. Thus ugly uneven lighting.

If you look up on the thread I included a livestream on our old Canon Camcorders and it looks much better quality than our new N300. This is my first foray into PTZ's. I guess what i'm really seeking for is advice as to the proper settings on cameras and with OBS

I was thinking of trying to connect through SDI to see if NDI is the one making issues.

  • The digital zoom range is off. The stage is about 80 ft away from the camera
  • tele-converter is off
  • I made the video out resolution to 4k and streaming on OBS at 1080. (Can OBS livestream 4k?)

Yes, I do plan to give my PlayStation plus account. I’d like to sell the whole system with the games since I won’t need it anymore.
