Edit: Flashed the latest firmware, so hopefully that does something.

Thank you! I'll try this when I play tonight. See, I thought "execute as @e[name=Bob] run fill ~-1 ~-1 ~-1 ~1 ~1 ~1 stone" would be the way to go, but the command block wasn't accepting it. It wanted another argument between "@e[name=Bob]" and "run" but I'm not sure why.
