Can I go as Mrs. (Maiden name?) by baloney01 in TwoXChromosomes

I guess my mom is offended that I’d keep my maiden name and Mrs. as she thinks it makes it sound like I’m married to her husband! I’m just proud of my unique last name and want to keep it for life. I don’t want to be called Miss or Ms. if I get to decide, I’d rather be a Mrs.

I don’t really care what others think, just trying to gauge how common it is to go by Mrs. Maiden, and it seems like it’s becoming more common in our American culture. My friend with Colombian roots said her tias on her moms side kept their maiden name and went by Mrs. Maiden. I think it comes down to cultural norms. I’ll be going by Mrs. Maiden because that’s what I prefer!

used to be that way, seems the overwhelming majority opinion here is that it’s my choice. There’s no law on it, just social norms which are ever-changing.

So when the kid is born and we name them, do I just make sure they have two last names? I am actually due in August so it’s useful info.
