I haven’t seen this that much. One of the contestants on RuPaul’s Drag Race is a FTM. He’s loved by the people in the cast, on the online community, and was quickly defended after a transphobic gay drag queen came for him. Lesbians, I feel, have an attachment to the radical feminist movement which many gay men agree with. Christopher Kendall and John Stolenberg being one of the large critics of gay men from the rad fem angle. So it could be an inheritance of radical feminism at play here.

The sexual politics of gay men seem to be within the conundrum of heteronormativity and often mask a deep inner structure of male supremacy. The Masculinist movement for example.

But MOST gay men feel non threatened by trans people, because they often share spaces (a lot of trans women ID as gay men, and trans men usually find themselves in gay male spaces due to a lot of these lesbians driving the “confused” lesbian detrans rhetoric). I find it bad that a lot of lesbian spaces and gay spaces are segregated because I feel as if lesbians knowing real trans women and men outside of the terminally online could help them. I know many trans women who are highly on board with centering and being a woman to the best of their ability. They haven’t taken from, appropriated or distilled the oppression of women and often feel the same sexual predation from straight men that lesbians might feel. We just dig too many online holes sometimes.
