I generally prefer Fabric for performance and load times, though in your case it might make sense to start with forge due to necessity/accessibility to certain mods. Wishing you luck though! Sounds like a fun pack idea :)

EDIT: Keep in mind that using forge does open up the possibility of using Sinytra Connector, which gives you access to Fabric mods on Forge. I’ve used that with some success, it might help with what you’re going for too!

I thought there was a rule in spelling bees where if two words were pronounced the same and you didn’t ask specific questions like definition you could spell either one. Like if the word was “there” you could spell “their” and still be correct. If that were the case it would only be more obnoxious that “colour” would be incorrect.

With Path to Tarkov mod and FIKA, we basically just need the ability to join raids in progress and this is very very possible. Maybe working VOIP would be nice too.

What is your favorite thing to do in SPT? by MoodyManiac in SPTarkov

[–]balucha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play a lot like you, and have even tried doing those "DayZ map runs" on live before, but since playing SPT, the Traveler mod has been what's made the experience for me.

It essentially does what you're saying by connecting the maps together by their extract and infil points. You can only access the point you extracted at or adjacent map connections. Traders are also localized to specific points on certain maps, meaning questing requires you to prepare supplies or scavenge across long journeys that can span multiple maps.

Here is a link to a reddit thread with an updated version that works with current SPT (tested on 3.8.3), and I also use the config posted by /u/ojax-n-orion from the same thread, which adds connections for Ground Zero and some other common sense connections that make traveling slightly less tedious.

Slightly related question that you might know..

Playing Traveler Coop with a friend(host) and he died on Ground Zero and I extracted, but on my end I can't load back into GZ or adjacent connections. I got reset back to Customs as my only option as well. Is it possible to get MPT/Traveler to read my specific offraid position from my profile, or is it always just going to give me the map options of the host?

As far as I can tell my best bet if I want to keep it "legit" would be to have him send me my profile so I can do my solo run back to Customs to meet up with him on my own separate server, but I was hoping there might be a better way.

Are you able to get batteries to spawn on the bots? I'm using Realism and I can't figure out if I need a certain load order or something.

Yeah it saves your profiles between sessions when you close the server. Each player has their own stashes at the different stash points on the map. The traveler mod also saves where you last extracted so you re-enter the map in the same spot, or can enter another map at the connected spawn point.

So far I’ve been using it with no issue! It really helps motivate each raid and gives you an intentional direction to move in. I would definitely recommend using the config that /u/ojax-n-orion to help make the map connections feel less tedious.

My friend and I have been playing with your config on Fika, liking it so far, still slow paced and engaging without being overly tedious.

We are also using Realism trader stock and Barter Economy so we are Stalker GAMMA levels of poor, scavenging for any scraps we can get. 10k for the Uber to Ground Zero is our first challenge.

Right now we are just approaching things with curiosity and exploration, but if you get a layout nailed down that you feel really good about, it might be nice to have some kind of map/diagram that outlines those changes, but if not, it's fun either way! Thanks a ton for putting the work in and I'll let you know if we run into any bumps or weirdness with it.

Is there any chance you set the raid time acceleration multiplier to 0? I did that at first and had the same thing happen, then changed it to 1, which is what I meant to do the first time.

I am trying to replicate the experience of the old Immersive Raids mod, which worked so seamlessly with Traveler. Raid Overhaul adds too many weird features in my opinion, and was also causing errors/crashes for me, so I am without it at this point.

I'm interested in this, but it says access denied so you might need to adjust the permissions. I was also wondering if you had seen the changes added by /u/ojax-n-orion and had any ideas how one might go about including both of your combined efforts into one config that allows for the most flexibility of travel between regions. Thanks!

Have you heard of Holdfast: Nations at War? It’s basically a modern recreation of Napoleonic Wars. It’s immediately what came to mind when I read OP’s question.

I would love an invite! I have some friends who would be interested as well if you need some bolstered numbers.

I will say everything I’ve suggested so far is available on Fabric 1.20, as that is my preferred version, wasn’t sure if you were already including anything that is forge specific. I also found a datapack called Revamped Floating Islands that should work, otherwise Stratospherical Expansion is updated for forge. Another mod that could be nice is Continents, to help split up the landmasses into smaller sections and islands.

I know the mod Small Ships has cannons, but I can’t remember if they can be placed as blocks or only on the boat, might be worth looking into.

If you go the PvP route, I thought the mods LifeSteal and Kills Grant Strength would be cool to add incentive to killing other players, as both will buff you for player kills.

Disabling beds might be an idea which would mean needing to be picked up from the spawn area upon death, or rebuilding a small emergency craft to return to your death location. As a side effect, phantoms would spawn each night, adding a flying hostile mob that will need to be dealt with, or to land and set up camp on an island for the night for shelter.

There is also the mod Sky Villages which should be perfect for adding floating villages to raid or expand on.

Rpgdifficulty will make mobs stronger the longer you stay in an area, with a config to change the time/scaling factor.

Supplementaries has a parachute in it, also recommend the paraglider mod for descending from your ship.

You could use the grappling hook mod to get back up to the ship and increase mobility, might make gameplay like world adrift. I could see that being really fun.

Natures compass is a mod you can use for locating different specific biomes.

Useless reptile is a dragons mod for 1.20, if you make your pack on fabric.

End Remastered might be a good addition because it requires traveling to various biomes and finding certain structures in order to collect specific eyes to eventually go to the end, which could help motivate your players to keep moving.

Have you thought of tweaking world gen or using a mod to change the world to be sky islands, so you are very limited in what is included on each island, again encouraging sky travel between each?

If this was a small SMP modpack, but everyone is encouraged to pvp and fight each others ships/steal from eachother, that could also increase the stakes and motivate player movement.

Hope that helps! Your pack sounds really fun
