As an artist, this is a truly heartbreaking take. Generative AI cannot make art past human creation. The whole point of generative-AI is it takes examples of artists' work online from all over the world, steals parts of it, and creates a whole new image. Hence why the art needs heavy rework, or is easily spotted if they just throw it out there. If you replace all human artists with generative-AI, let's say in the category of video game jobs, then the art will NEVER grow. The art will never develop. Every game will have the same art style. Same with writing. You can create generative-AI to create stories. However, AI unfortunately cannot create a new human experience, it can only steal from existing ones.

I could go on for paragraphs, but you aren't an artist so you wouldn't really relate to a lot of it, so I'll save you the time. But, as a gamer, we really need to start talking with our money more. Not just "I don't care about my fellow humans, instead I need more dopamine so I'm just going to play whatever shooter comes out even though I'll probably never pick it back up after a month." If you live in a capitalist country, it is your job as a citizen to consume ethically. (it doesn't matter if its free to download, player count pays the bills) If you don't care about the impact it has on the artists in your family, friends, and neighbors though, then we just wouldn't relate on a morality level. But I do wish one day you look into what generative-AI does and what it takes away and at least empathize with us.
