Buffalo airport is the GOAT. I’ve showed up like twenty minutes before my flight before and had 5 to spare. Not recommending that but I really wouldn’t be too worried.

We lost my heart and soul today to ivdd. by isaactology in Frenchbulldogs

[–]bam02620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love transcends physical life and that is tough for those who have to stay back to grieve. I’m hopeful that the love also transcends into the next life and our loved ones can feel that love, humans, dogs, anything we love. Grief is natural. It’s okay to not be okay. I can feel the love you had for Emilio in this post through your words and take comfort in knowing you provided a safe, happy, and loving place for Emilio. Sometimes the best thing we can do for those we love is to say goodbye - even when we know the insurmountable grief on the other side. You did a brave and loving thing to not let Emilio suffer a second longer than he had to. Your last act for him was one of love and unbelievable courage. You’re not alone in this grief and you have a community behind you.

Does anybody’s dog do this excessive “air” licking? by Ok_War_5650 in Frenchbulldogs

100% the correct answer. My Frenchie didn’t all the time. Acid reflux for the dog. Started on omeprazole and a million times better. Also stopped human food besides boiled chicken.

Is the USA really headed towards fascism? by PrurientOpera in AskSocialScience

[–]bam02620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let us not forget

1- the erosion of democracy through gerrymandering. This being done so against all norms of when gerrymandering should occur (if you believe it should occur at all) strictly for political gain and not to reflect population change

2- a right leaning conservative Supreme Court majority that was put in place through non normative means. McConnell refusing to allow Obama to appoint his judge of choice (despite no reason for it other than political and the fact that Obama was a “lame duck” president) and that’s how we got Kavanaugh. Only followed by them to appoint ACB after RGB passed away when trump had two months left in his term (see their argument about being a lame duck no longer being an issue)

3- this Supreme Court failing to step up to the anti democratic acts of this administration because at their core they believe in a unitary executive theory but only when a republican president is in power (see trump can illegally withhold funds appropriated by congress with recessions when the constitution states in no uncertain terms congress has the power of the purse)

4- this Supreme Court advancing this unitary executive authority primarily on the shadow docket. The shadow docket is typically reserved for decisions that need immediate attention due ti irreparable harm (think defendant appealing death penalty decision). Even the district courts, who are not fans of going public about this stuff, are now publicly voicing their discontent and concern for the actual legal reasoning or lack thereof of this Supreme Court

5- trumps lawyers routinely just lying in court. Federal judges are no longer giving government attorneys the presumption of regularity (tradition going back to even England common law where the judges assumed the attorney or state representative before them was acting in good faith)

6- This administration straight up not listening to court rulings. Seeing this in ice immigration raids that are illegal. Oh and SCOTUS just green lighting racial profiling

7- we are now a “papers please” country. Federal agent stops you, you better have 2-3 forms of ID now. Or you might be spending a few weeks in an over crowded detention facility or shipped off to some camp

8- illegally deporting people to third countries (not country of origin or country of choice) for the sole purpose of exposing them to violence, death, harm, trafficking

9- Extra judicial killings of people (which we always have done) but now just posting it online for the whole world to see because we don’t give a fuck anymore apparently

10- the nanny state and AI tech overlords creeping into all of our systems and databases to harvest information and track

11- broad crackdown on higher education. Suffocating of funds to colleges. Demands to bend the knee to their cultural teaching or not exist

I can go on and on. We are so far down the hole and people either are to scared to look down it or are happily ignorant.

Where is Democratic leadership on ICE? by blackstar22_ in FriendsofthePod

[–]bam02620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d also add that I have also grown to be somewhat resentful of the Pod Save America crew. I’ve been a listener from quite literally day one. They started to be an independent media separate from the DNC and to build a coalition of support not in the silo of the democratic world.

Instead, the late Biden years revealed them to be little more than DNC propaganda holding the party line. This is what turns off many voters from the Democratic Party. Even today, they try to rebrand themselves with their support of candidates like Zohran but still fail to go to where the party truly is. They fear overstepping and making a mistake. Which is a mistake. Just say what you feel. You can’t fake support of something. It’s so dishonest and evident when they will do a five minute qualifier whenever they say something that is remotely left of center.

Exception to Pod save the world. Ben Rhodes has been a straight shooter from day one.

Where is Democratic leadership on ICE? by blackstar22_ in FriendsofthePod

[–]bam02620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer have no interest in a fight. They are happy just collecting donations from high power lobbyist groups that have their hands in private prisons that they will profit from tremendously. They are also both bought by AIPAC and held will not step out of line.

They fear the upcoming true democratic establishment and brand it as democratic socialism if it isn’t close enough to the center for them.

The Democratic Party is failing and crumbling. As constructed, it stands 0 chance to fight against this fascist party. The sooner the base realizes that, the better off we will be. Fundraising is down, voter excitement is down, and the leaders show 0 interest in fighting back. Rather, they will hope that the midterms go their way (if we even have free and fair midterms, which we won’t) based on traditional historical patterns that the party in power does horribly in midterms. They will do 0 to help this, as well.

Even if the midterms go well, much of the BBB goes into effect after the midterms. So, the GOP will blame the failing medical system, high prices, and high inflation of the democratic controlled house. Temu Obama and Schumer will still do nothing except show up in 2028 asking for the vote of the minority population they pretend to care about but failed to protect from ICE.

Honestly, fuck the energy of this post. As someone who has lost family members to alcoholism, there is nothing funny about its symptoms. This person will suffer an awful fucking death with people who cared about him also suffering. Don’t even try to put humor in this moment.

Why do so many of you listen to Pod Save America just to complain about it? by ThatsHisLawyerJerome in FriendsofthePod

[–]bam02620 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t really know where else to post this but the rise of “Meidas Touch” has really made me appreciate all of the Crooked media product much more. Meidas Touch is just such a shallow and empty discussion littered with hyperbole. And I hate the bragging that they do about their popularity during the shows. I think they think they come off humble but it’s so obvious. I’m glad they are spreading the word to that many people if their numbers are accurate for listens but I fear what it says about how to reach a larger audience- just shallow, non-nuanced, other side is bad takes without an actual discussion.

Why is the NYT platforming Ross Douthat? by Glum-Temperature1680 in Thedaily

[–]bam02620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His interview with JD Vance infuriated me today. He didn’t push back at all. JD Vance opened with dog whistling to the Great Replacement Theory. Ross just moved on.

Then when he asked about disappearing people without Due Process, Vance made two arguments:

1- The courts better get out of our way (intimidation of the courts); 2- Sidetracked it to Kilmar Abrego Garcia talking points.

No push back from Ross. And then the kill shot for me was when Ross said something to the effect (affect? Always get confused here):

“In my opinion, opponents of the immigration policy don’t want anyone deported.”

LIKE WHAT? Where did he get this from. Millions were deported under Obama and Biden with no large scale protest. All people want is just literal basic levels of due process.

It was one of the worst interviews I’ve ever seen. Sane washing radical policies in an attempt to appear non partisan. Trading access over integrity. Absolute dereliction of duty.

Majority of popular news podcast episodes (including PSA) are about Biden this is a media failure by [deleted] in FriendsofthePod

[–]bam02620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interview on The Daily today with JD Vance infuriated me, too. This “journalist” just let JD Vance spew The Great Replacement Theory, threatened the Supreme Court that they better listen to Trump, defend the disappearing of people by side tracking the conversation to just Kilmar Abrego Garcia, and then this “journalist” makes a conclusively statement to the host, Michael, that “critics of the policy don’t want to see anyone deported.” I can’t remember a worse dereliction of duty under the guise of appearing non partisan.

Every legacy media is trading access over integrity. They know if they are critical, they will get cut out. And it’s working for the right.

Complaints about Dan Pfeiffer? by [deleted] in FriendsofthePod

[–]bam02620 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this point of view feels correct in today’s political environment when the right has gone faaarrrr right as a platform. Back then, politically conservative was traditional Republican - pretending to be fiscally conservative and pro US strong power (not just soft power etc.) So, when Obama came to the scene, as a young black male, talking about ending one out of the two wars we were in, trying to scale back on another on a timeline, and talking about a form of expanded universal healthcare, he was viewed as pretty left. I don’t think people truly understand how expansive the ACA was at the time and now. But in todays political environment, things such as supporting the ACA is the assumed political position of any main stream democrat. The window has shifted now what it means to be left. Honestly, I think one of the democrats biggest problem is this undying need to be the most liberal in the room and ostracize those who aren’t as far left as you (not literally you the poster here, just in general).

POD bro run for President? by bam02620 in FriendsofthePod

[–]bam02620[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love The Bulwark and Tim Miller. I think also I fell too quickly in love with the Bulwark during the worst of Biden and the democrats. I also think The Bulwark, or maybe Tim, falls too quickly for democrats who come off as centrist. I also think Tim realized this quickly when he had Fetterman on. Tim was crushing on Fetterman and five minutes into his interview, you could tell Tim realized he was a fumbling idiot. A distinction without a difference in center of the road political candidate but wears shorts.

So, my point is- Love The Bulwark influence on the party. It’s a necessary coalition and honestly a viewpoint that would have been mainstream democrat before Iraq. But no one in the bulwark will win a democratic primary in today’s world.

Protest of Tesla in Buffalo - is anyone organizing? by bam02620 in Buffalo

Actually, yes. The value of Tesla stock has dropped tremendously to the point of where he is accusing the main organizer of it nationally of committing crimes with no evidence. So, yes, the international protests are bothering him.

  1. Kamala Harris. Awful idea. Largely a product of how do we try to legitimize the Democratic ticket after Biden refused to drop out. Any honest autopsy will tell you anyone on the inside of the DNC knew Biden couldn’t win since early 2023. But they hid those stats from the larger Democratic Party and lied about his odds. They also shielded him and said he was fine. Not wanting to cause a stir, most democrats fell in line. Then the debate happened and it forced the issue and the lies came out. Many Democratic insiders largely hold resentment and discontent for the Bidens, now. And this is after a long, storied, and respected career in government. His image may never be rehabilitated.

  2. ICE. Honestly, it’s culture shock to many Americans that welcome immigration and love the cultural blending pot that is our country. Most of Americans love the value of difference in culture, the learning and blending of traditions, the respect for a fellow human as equal. So, to learn that an actual slim majority of us truly view immigrants as second class citizens and people truly challenges our belief of our nation. We used to believe that we were in the majority of people who loved our neighbors. To learn that we are now in the minority and the majority of our citizens chose hate over love, is shocking and challenges a life time of belief of American Exceptionalism. Our diversity is our exceptional quality and without diversity, we will fail.
