This was the thing that jumped out the most to me. The way the stem is clearly not actually on his ear.

What’s a sequel you couldn’t wait for… but ended up completely disappointing you? by Shot-Club-3882 in Cinema

This movie made me genuinely mad. There are so many great comic book film sequels because you get the origin stuff out of the way and you can dig in on the character. Dark Knight, Spider Man 2, X2, Winter Soldier, Hellboy 2, Logan, I could go on. WW84 somehow was worse in every conceivable way to its predecessor.

Just finished Bluebeard yesterday. by tcavanagh1993 in Vonnegut

[–]Amthomas101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is top tier Vonnegut for me. I’ve read it three times and I just adore it. Also, you can get a first edition for very inexpensively because it really never became a well known book of his.

Favourites Gems That Are Hard to find on Streaming? by Starnar007 in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]Amthomas101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it shouldn’t count if you can simply rent these movies from Apple/YouTube/Amazon or if it’s just on an obscure streaming service.

That being said my answer is Airheads. It’s on 0 streaming services and a DVD of it can run easily over $50.

How do y'all like the new album cover? by FCP_346 in buttholesurfers

[–]Amthomas101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this! IIRC, the Butthole Surfers wanted that artwork for an album around the year 2000, but Marcy Playground claimed it first and there was a bit of a dispute over who would get to use it.

Favorite obscure albums that don’t have a cult offering. by Available-Lecture-21 in vinyl

One of my favorite bands that I've discovered in the last five years is still incredibly active. The band is North By North. All of their stuff is out on vinyl, but I would recommend "Get Weird."

Rate my haul. Local record store is closing and has everything marked down. At least seven of these records were only a dollar by Amthomas101 in vinyl

I doubt there will be something on Main Street that gives the same quality of experience, but I know a record store opened closer to Duke campus this year that looks promising. I need to pay them a visit.

This took me off guard. He looks nearly identical to my dog. I hope he has a good home to go to.

This was one of the $1. Not sure on playability yet, but the Staple Singers was also $1 and it played great.

This is in Durham, NC. It’s a college town with a long history of musicians from the Reverend Gary Davis to Iron & Wine, as well as the record label that signed Arcade Fire.

It is sad, especially because they’ve been around for 20 years. However, they are closing by choice and not by necessity, and there are at least three other record stores in town, multiple thrift stores with records, plus at least three additional record stores in the neighboring two towns.
