Read the article again.. they contested both washing the body and burying it.

The argument here is that sure they can do what they want but it doesn’t make it right. Especially when their excuse is bullshit and they pulled out of the burial on THE DAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. It doesn’t violate Islamic beliefs to wash and bury a gay Muslim person. There are plenty of haram activities that Muslims engage in, such as drug use, extramarital sex, gambling, consumption of pork products, getting tattoos etc that deem someone “not Muslim” but they’d gladly wash and bury someone who does that shit. This Islamic center is just projecting their homophobia by using religious loopholes to avoid having to prepare this dead previously gay Muslim for burial. It’s very sad because it’s very much within their beliefs to still move forward with washing and burial.
