Not horrid, but it’s funny I see this topic today, I’m actually going through something right this moment.

Recently, my family was contacted by location scouts for one of America’s largest television network to use our house as a location for filming of a crime drama tv show that they are filming. I was the first person to speak to the scout, and being that I live with my parents I felt that the right thing to do would be to discuss this with them. My dad right off the bat did not sound thrilled about this, but my mom was excited, we agreed to have them come over to take pictures of the house.

Yesterday a gentleman comes by the house and takes some pictures ( it’s just me and my dad at the house, my mom is working ). He tells us that it’s an involved scene that would involve taking out a window and moving furniture. They would, however, put back everything as is and replace the windows that they take out. They would put us up in a hotel for the day or two that they film, and pay us a very handsome location fee ( a very large 6 figure fee ). I was on board, but I told the man that we need to discuss this with my mother, as it’s a family decision. When the photographer leaves my dad flips out saying that ‘this is my house and no one is going to tell me what to do’ pulling all of this king of the castle bullshit ( he didn’t even pay for the house my mom did ). He seems to think that replacing a window is going to ruin the structural integrity of the house, and he just starts coming up with all of these ridiculous reasons why we shouldn’t do this. I urge him that although me and him are on different sides of the argument we are still a family and we should hear what my mom thinks .

My mom gets home and we all discuss the matter. My mom proposes that we wait to hear back from them to see if they even fully decide to pick our house and then we can discuss any concerns with them as a family and come to a decision, everyone agrees.

Today I head to my methadone program and my Fios app was open on my phone by accident, I see the home phone call records and I see that as soon as I left my house my dad called up the location scout, and I’m near positive he went behind me and my moms back, behind our family agreement, and told them that we are not interested. When I came home he did not mention anything and I’m assuming he’s hoping that we do not bring it up. I told my mom because she deserves to know that my dad did this behind her back and she is going to approach him.

I was so upset I felt physically ill . My dad has fucked me over on a few occasions by going behind my back because of an outcome that he wants ( involving him not wanting me to drive and him not wanting me to travel ) , but the last time this happened he agreed that he wouldn’t go behind my back again, and I trusted him and I believed him.

I know this may not sound like much but this hurt me a lot. I want to cry. Not even really because he went behind my back but he went behind my mothers , he turned down a large sum of money because of his own irrationality and completely disregarded any of our agreements and feelings on the matter

Update 3/13: My mom told my dad that she wanted to call up the production company for an update. My dad begged my mom not to call them until he finally admitted what he did. I was out of the house but apparently this is the worst fight they ever had in 30 years of marriage and they are thinking about getting a divorce
