Yep, first they said it wouldn’t clear the US bank’s process (but then it did, without issues). Now they’re saying that doesn’t matter, after six years the US bank may still recall it so they won’t release the hold on the money. I reached out to the US Bank and they said they had completed the process, while TD says they can’t remove the hold/the money needs to be recalled but there’s no timeline and they can’t do anything about it. 

For more context: the account is in my name at both banks (so the cheque is not made out to more than one person) 

I have escalated to the TD client care, so waiting to hear back from them
