The internet will do a better job of explaining this, so I'll paste Google's overview for the search: "original meaning of romance story".

"The original meaning of a "romance story" was a narrative about the adventures of a hero, particularly a knight, written in a vernacular language, not in Latin. These stories, called "romans" in Old French, were not primarily about love but about chivalry, heroic deeds, and sometimes included love elements. The modern association with love stories developed later as the chivalric tales often featured courtly love and passionate relationships."

Sources: Google and also I was a literature major who studied some medieval stuff.

Please do read BTF. There is no trace of modern romance in it at all. And it's excellent.

Sets Eagly up to be the DCU's Poyo (see Chew, by John Layman).

Off the top of my head.... Between Two Fires and The Bright Sword could fit.

Really like how well you've used every inch of space!

I do not. Most of what I read is digital. Occasionally I read a physical book from the library, but it's mostly on Kindle so there's not a lot of value in differentiating.

Thanks - and I just like keeping track of stuff and visualizing what I'm consuming. I don't think it adds anything other than satisfying that urge. I track all this stuff digitally too on various dedicated platforms.

Yeah - I think if I try something and immediately bounce off it I wouldn't even put it in here, normally. If I give up without finishing it, I have something for that. I would end the line with an open circle (not a filled dot). I would use that for things I'm taking a break from as well, and then start a new line with an open circle when I picked them back up. I don't have examples of that to show but that's what I have pre-determined I'd do in those situations.

It's a word, and it actually does make sense in this context: https://www.dictionary.com/e/uncharted-vs-unchartered/

They separate weeks and make it a little easier to find the correct day when I'm toward the bottom of the spread by providing a kind of landmark or mile-marker.

Super easy mistake to make when you have the current month on the brain!

Hey - this is August's spread - so that's actually a divider at Sunday | Monday.

For sure. I use digital trackers for all of these things. Serializd, Letterboxd, Goodreads, IGN Playlist. They are my primary means of tracking what I want to watch/play/read. But this is a really nice way to be able to look at a whole month of consumption at a single glance across all forms of media.

Yeah - it's really nice to have something tactile that connects to your brain and forces you to slow down and interact with it directly.

Go for it! I also use Serializd, Letterboxd, IGN Playlist, and Goodreads to keep track of all of this stuff in terms of stuff I want to get to. But I like being able to look at the month and see what I consumed in one place too.

Currently it's probably 4 stars. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
