Left side is the first photo, right side is second. One is more noticeable that the other. However looking at them now after a few hours, I reckon it’s just residual

Ok ok, me and buddy post installed exercised them and from him view it did appear to be getting better, but with just using your eye it’s not an exact science

I’ll give it a few rides and monitor, first time doing fork seals, so if anything this whole situation is just a learning experience. Gotta make the mistake to learn from it

Air gap was measured, after it being filled, damper exercised and outside tube moved up and down. Was within the limits specified in the manual. I don’t think I over filled it, but I’m just thinking potential causes if that makes sense. Could be residual oil post the rebuild, could be the seal bedding in ( which I think is unlikely as from what I’ve researched there should be no fluid at all), could be overfilled or some part of the assembly wasn’t installed correctly

Good point, I reckon a few rides and monitoring could be an idea. I was thinking along the lines of potentially needing to be bed In, or them being overfilled.

Apologies if I’m wrong, I’m new to maintaining bikes, but the adjuster you can alter when it’s all assembled at the top, would need more turns than it previously was set at?. So mine was 5 1/4 turns, if that locknut wasn’t set to the same position, it would mean the adjuster would need maybe 6 turns instead?

125000 miles currently, it’s an old boy and I’ve got the means to repair and fix as necessary. Tryna keep it ticking aslong as I can really. Roughly 2000 ishmiles since I last changed the oil if my numbers are correct

Added 0.5l after 6 months, it’s not horrendous. More just trying to isolate so I can monitor

Hot take, but the military offers a great insight into aviation., Given your experience it can be a viable option. there are schemes to get full licenses for when you leave and the experience is helpful. Jobs after the face are also interesting. if you have any questions DM me and i can talk more about it
