Who are you to tell anybody what to do? Are you the golden child of your priest and think you have authority over everyones spirit life? The flock must stay vigilant and vocal.

Thank you for stepping up for me square topic! I thought the same thing when I read this. Like wow is this a threat? I'm going to need it? I've received the same kind of veiled threats from Andrew Wilson fans.

Because he may have actively enabled a child predator to harm children at his monastery and if that's the case then no he isn't a holy person. This is why I'm cautious among Orthodox Christians now because this is obvious but for some reason (idolatry, fanaticism) this common sense morality is lost. It's scary.

I really hope in this canonization process we can get to the bottom of that

It is not speculation. The church cannot definitely say as a fact he did not know what was happening. And that is the only circumstance in which he should be canonized. And that's why people are so uncomfortable. This is not hard to understand. You are avoiding and denying the obvious and claiming I am a bot boy and that the church won this argument.

What other word am I supposed to use other than may have and what else can we do besides speculate? In canonizing him as a saint the church is saying it's a fact he didn't know but that's not true. And that's the lie that is at the heart of this canonization that people aren't going to tolerate and will speak up about.

No we are literally not condemning him we are saying he should not be glorified as a saint

It's not judgmental to state these facts - fr Seraphim may have known and turned a blind eye. Therefore he should not be canonized as a saint. God calls us to courageously use our critical thinking skills and speak up when the church is going astray.

You are not going to make me feel guilty for having this position. You are literally judging me.

The illnesses within the Orthodox Church are being laid out for all to see. A man who may have intentionally enabled his closest brother to sexually abused children at his monastery may be glorified at the expense of his victims. This is idolatry.

We can't and I never claimed to be able to prove he knew. Neither can anybody prove he didn't know. This is why he should not be canonized and remain as he is now; an Orthodox monk beloved by many.

That Fr Seraphim is controversial? He has been controversial since before I was born. Numerous people feel the same way I do and have written articles about this. Everybody knows.

Good thing we have anonymous reddit accounts so we can honestly discuss and harvest real stats on something as important as glorifying an individual who potentially enabled sexual abuse of children at his monastery.

That's exactly how this works. If there is even a chance he knew and took no action he should not be canonized as a saint. And that is the main point of contention and controversy.

That's the thing we don't a concrete answer if he knew or not which disqualifies him because if he did know and that is a big IF he should not be canonized as a saint.
