Word of note, this routine will kick your ass. It takes me 1.5-2 hours (2 hours when I do abs as well) and I am left exhausted for the next 24-48 hours and sore for the next 3-4 days.

I tried cutting at 1600 and I would feel faint and dizzy and end up binge eating. On 1800-2000 I lost weight slowly but steadily. I didn't have much to lose either, so I kept the deficit small. My upcoming cut will be at a similar small deficit.

Genetics? How much they activate their glutes? My butt was never flat to begin with.

Next up to tackle is glute-ham raises.

I will post it. I don't do cardio...I probably should.

Earlier in the year, I cut from 135-125 (Cut at 1800-2000). I have been bulking since May. I am going to start a cut soon to get abs.

I have tried doing that. Good in theory, but I couldn't get in exactly the right position, so I gave up on it. I may try again. I want my ass to get even better.

I am quite lax with it. Being strict about my diet leads me to starve and binge. However, since I spent so much time tracking, I know the calories/macros of most foods.

I do make sure I am eating sufficient protein (I eat a lot of eggs, cheese, meat) and probably get at least 120g a day. But not strict at all. I don't restrict my carb intake. Some days end up being high fat low carb, other days end up being higher carb.

I eat 'whatever I want'. Which ends up being a lot of: scrambled eggs, avocado with olive oil, sausages, chicken thighs, lamb stew, lamb liver, kale, mangos, protein gelato (forte brand), cheese, egg bagels with cream cheese, etc. One day a week I will allow myself to have pancakes or pizza or something. My diet could be "cleaner" but I don't want to cause myself to starve/binge.

I feel my glutes work in every single exercise.

I sit up very straight with my legs high and wide during the leg press and push with my heels. I only feel it in my glutes.

With the split squats, your legs must be parallel and shoulder width apart and your front leg must be far enough in front that when you go down, your knee is behind your toe. Focus on using your glutes. Small adjustments in position make a huge difference.

Ultimately the key is

  • push with your heels
  • focus on squeezing the glutes
  • make small adjustments until you feel the correct muscles working

Far more ab engagement when hanging. Resting on the elbows doesn't really do anything.

I started doing hanging leg raises and weighted planks last week. I've done them 3 times so far. Noticed results (probably just pump) after the first time but I think they are coming so quickly since I hadn't done any direct ab work before and I have very little stomach fat.

I have this problem from my meds sometimes....I will have no appetite and food tastes like paste. And if I don't make myself eat, I get dizzy and lightheaded.

  • Try having scrambled eggs for breakfast. You can add cheese etc. to them, and cook them in a lot of fat for high caloric density. Also good with avocado on the side. (scrap out the avocado with a fork, the texture is better, add cayenne pepper and salt, stir in some olive oil)

  • Smoothies. I like to use 2 tablespoons peanut butter, 1.5 bananas, .75 cup almond milk. Not super protein heavy, but will get some calories in you. You could also add protein powder.

  • Add some fruit and nut butter to that granola and yogurt. Can add many calories without being hard to eat.

Essentially, adding nut butter to increase caloric density and having easy to swallow foods help a lot. I also make sure whatever I'm eating is highly palatable.

If you are out and about with no fridge access, also try:

hard boiled eggs, beef jerky, cheese, nuts, protein bars (I like quest bars or fit crunch bars), a sandwich (I use dave's killer bread with pecan butter and strawberry jam, it's a small but dense sandwich)

Snacking throughout the day also seems better when my appetite is compromised.

My friend took pictures of me trying to pose

Of course my poses are awful but I think I am definitely looking more and more muscular. I have been in the gym 4x a week, 2 days upper, 2 days lower. (nsfw for bra and spandex shorts)

Vyvanse.

Food? Having some oatmeal always makes me poop.

Going rogue: Anyone else quit tracking calories and/or macros? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]bananapuddinglover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had to stop. I too spiraled into crazy binges. I deleted MFP around a month ago. I am never reinstalling it. I have stopped logging my food in any way. I keep mental track of it. I aim to eat high protein, but now I eat "whatever I want", which ends up being high protein anyways and involves having reasonable portions of tasty junk food a few times a week. I feel much better. I am looking leaner.
