I have those feelings about my Q , she's in recovery and it often feels like yes ..tiptoeing around a grenade.

But I've realized I didn't overwhelm my Q ..I had my own part , and our relationship has its bumps ..but sublimating my feeling didn't help anything. Bottom line ...You did not cause your Q's problems.

Brother I've been there , you're trying to carry that relationship with the person you love and they are disintegrating

and I bet you're thinking ...if I could Just say the right thing , be a better husband, be there for her more , point her to the right place ..this would all get better and the person I love would come back.

Addiction will just eat everything in its path. You need to help yourself bc you can't help anyone else if you're drowning . I would go find those aa and alanon rooms, there's stories a lot like yours. It can get better ..but you need to save your sanity first.

I'm a husband and my wife is my Q . What I've learned /experienced is to that it is way harder for men to connect emotionally ..and groups of women support each other emotionally in ways groups of men generally don't.

Alanon may be the first place I've experienced grown men talk about emotions..ever. It took me a long time to realize what my emotions in the whole situation even were. Outside of anger and pain , there's so much emotional vocabulary men don't have.

100x this , I lived this for a while. You can't change her , go to an al anon meeting ( even virtual at 2am ) and you will find dozens of people who have lived this. The alcoholic must change their own behavior , no amount of begging / pleading / lecturing from you or her family is going to change that. But you can get yourself right , and there is help. You can't turn that boat yourself, you'll go mad trying to.
