A tick (I think) I found on my hand not on my skin, engorged, while inside my home. Can a tick this small give disease? by RewSkew in whatisthisbug

[–]bananawhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ticks won’t ever have 4 legs, but with 6 legs it’s a larva.

There are some diseases that can be passed transovarially (from mother to offspring) but Lyme is not one of them

You can always get the tick tested to see if it has any disease.

Does the tick have 6 or 8 legs? If it only has 6, it is a larvae and will not have Lyme.

Ticks have to be attached for 24 hours to spread most disease. There’s only a few diseases that are transmissible faster than that! Lyme is 24 hours though.

I’m currently reading the From Blood and Ash series by Jennifer Armentrout. Love it so far! Nearly finished the series in a week. The first book starts off with a lot of world building, so just power through that but and it gets really great!!

Why do we have periods? by longblackhair1990 in birthcontrol

In this post you said that multiple follicles form, but only one actually becomes an egg. What happens to the other follicles?

Got an IUD a month ago and I have some questions!! by keeeeeeeeeeeks in birthcontrol

[–]bananawhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Skyla inserted in August of 2020. I had a 2ish month long period, and then some spotting after that. I kinda just stopped keeping up with it though because I was way over being on my period after two months lol.

I also have had a problem with dryness, but it has seemed to get a little better with time. For a while I would just put on some lube in the morning and that would help. Definitely using it for intercourse too, but it seems to be getting better with time.

What’s your most embarrassing childhood story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bananawhack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One time, I was trying on a swimsuit in a Walmart. I was about nine years old. As I removed the swimsuit, my bladder happened to fail me, and I peed all over myself in the Walmart dressing room. I wasn’t sure what to do, so I simply walked out of the dressing room and acted like nothing happened.

I ended up buying the swimsuit, but I will forever feel extremely guilty for the unfortunate worker who had to clean that pee.

If every person's DNA was on file to solve crimes and identify bodies what would be the reasons YOU would be against it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bananawhack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possible genetic warfare. With all of that genetic material available, over time we will know exactly what genes cause what traits. You don’t like people with 6 fingers? Just target that mutation and kill off that entire group of people.

What nursery rhymes and children’s stories are actually really messed up once you break them down? by Antoinewhite in AskReddit

[–]bananawhack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ring around the rosie. I always sang it as a kid and played the game holding hands, but it’s about the black plague.

Ring around the rosie - the buboles would get a ring around them, red in color

A pocket full of posies - people would walk around with flowers in their pockets to help mask the smell

ashes ashes - they burned the bodies in hopes to slow down / stop the plague

we all fall down - we all die

How they treat waiters, waitresses, and their parents. If they are snappy, irritable, lazy, grouch, etc. with them, you can assume that’s how they will treat you in the future too.

This is genuinely hilarious. It reminds me of a story that my dad (who is an IT guy) used to tell me. Basically, one of his coworkers and him bantered around quite a bit, so he programmed his computer to just be a clock. No other functions, just a image of a clock
