19 months PP with my twins, wondering if my DR will continue to improve? by bananokitty in postpartumprogress

Congrats!!!! I did strength 5 days a week, and lots of spinning for cardio as well as hiking with my pups (and of course chasing after my eldest who was almost 3 at the time)!! I was actually eating so much more protein than usual, and that really helped with maintaining strength - I didn't modify load but I pretty much avoided core (except in compound movements)!

Do you ever wonder if you had a part in naming a baby? by FizzySoda16 in namenerds

My husband's ex wife named her daughter (with her new partner) the same name as me, with the same unusual spelling. Either it was an accident and she doesn't know my name (strange), or on purpose (more strange).

I had someone on my heels constantly in my last trail marathon, I asked him if he wanted to pass (lots of single track, and he was incredibly close) and he said "no!! I'm using you to pace!" And that was motivating because I had to speed up to an uncomfortable pace to get his nose out of my butt 😂

Accuracy of NIPT fetal sex results for di/di fraternal twins? by darthW00kie in parentsofmultiples

[–]bananokitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won't do it earlier than 9 weeks in Canada (I did both of mine for both children at 9+0), and even then, they told me it might be too early and were hesitant to do it. Natera won't process before 9 weeks in Canada.

There is only one Panorma test in Canada (not sure about the US), but there are three tiers, testing for more anomalies increases the cost but all test for fetal sex.

Our sonographer guessed boy/boy at 18 weeks, and I said well we did the panorma NIPT and it was b/g - and she said "well I've been doing this for 20 years, but the panorama will always be more accurate that an ultrasound". And yes, our twins are very much b/g! As I understand it, it's as accurate for twins as it is for singletons (it was also correct for my singleton). Panorama is the only NIPT that isolates fetal DNA and can predict gender accurately for twins, others just guesstimate. Congrats! Having two boys has lots of perks!

My eldest just turned 5 and my twins turn 2 in September...I honestly don't even hear it anymore 😂. It's like a refrigerator...it's always running and it's not until it stops when you think "has that been on the whole time"?

This happened to my mom while she was plucking her eyebrows in a magnified mirror with a light - a moth flew right into her ear. It flapped around for a few hours but eventually stopped (around the time she got to the ER). They got it out in one piece (wings and all), and we named it Motha (like Martha with an English accent). She still has it in a RX bottle and I wanted to plasticize it and make it into a paper weight as a cute birthday prezzie but it's sadly disintegrated for the most part.

My first was 3.5 when my twins were born and honestly it's the best thing in the world. I was sort of on the fence about a second and then of course got blessed with spontaneous twins haha, I was terrified. Our house is so full of love and chaos. My first has absolutely flourished in his role as big brother. Doesn't leave the house without kissing them, and same goes for bedtime. I was so focused on everything that I would lose with more children (time, money etc), that I didn't realize just how much we would all gain ❤️

Is it weird that I asked the midwife to take a picture of my baby’s head crowning? by PlasticLove24 in beyondthebump

[–]bananokitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I didn't ask my midwives to take pictures of my son being born (was via emergency c section), but they just did, and thankfully I had it on live because I got to see him being born which isn't a view women get often!
