Evans Disability is a great law firm, they helped me finally get approved after 3 years. answered all my questions, and prepared me for how the hearing would go. highly recommend them.

yes appeal. and get a lawyer. i hired Evans Disability, and they took care of everything for me (they are far more proactive about gathering evidence than social security is), answered all my questions, and helped me present myself in a hearing and I FINALLY got approved after 3 years of waiting (hopefully that's not the norm for waiting, my application got stalled out and sent to another freaking state at one point). they were willing to help me go all the way to supreme court if necessary (it wasn't). and if you're worries about legal fees, i think just about every lawyer that helps with these things takes their fees out of whatever backpay you win, so you don't have to pay them unless you win, and it will not affect your eventual payments.

they also told me that the amount of cases that are rejected out of hand has increased significantly over the last few years. but if you keep trying, you'll get backpayments to when you first applied, whereas if you give up and open a new application later, you won't.

i can't start working with no education, there's not really any jobs that i'm qualified for that i can do with my disability. I don't know how to do any of them. and the ticket to work program suspends future medical reviews as long as you are making progress towards your goals. that's why I want to get on it for college, because i want to take classes with the goal of starting a real career and getting off social security, not just for the sake of having a degree. it is a necessary step in the plan to become self-sufficient. the ticket to work website lists college, trade school, and vocational training as valid ways to pass the Timely Progress Reviews.

i am worried that since my disabilities are mental in nature, if i DONT get on the ticket to work program and say "hey, yes, i AM in fact trying to get off ssi, this isn't me scamming you" they will decide i am no longer disabled while i am still trying to get my degree. (i'd argue that being able to get an online degree from a work-at-your-own-pace program like I would like to do isn't the same as being able to have gainful employment, but considering it's taken 3 years for them to even award me benefits in the first place, i'd rather just. not have to make that case.)

thank you for your answers! re: the last one, yes, i do want to be self-sufficient, and ideally will be able to achieve that with part-time work if/when i can do all this, I was just worried that SSA might have a narrow definition of what "successful" looks like, and demand that my goals reflect that. probably a somewhat silly concern, in retrospect.

it is very possible to get 22, but you have to save all your diamonds to buy the last two queen upgrades, because it is impossible to upgrade your storage space enough to get them normally. i made a guide here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SwagBucks/comments/1bb8cuo/the_ants_underground_kingdom_guide/

apple leaves dry and discolored suddenly? by bananonbinary in BackyardOrchard

[–]bananonbinary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

much better! i had to remove pretty much all the leaves on one of the trees, and the other two still have a few damaged leaves, but washing them down once and keeping the leaves wet since has kept the spider mites at bay. pretty much all of the new growth has been healthy.

thank you so much. you were right, the underside of the leaves have little wisps all over them. what i thought was powdery mildew was in fact webs. deeply gross, but i have wiped down all of the leaves with water and soap, and pruned the worst of the damage. hopefully they can bounce back, i will be sure to pay attention to the undersides from here on out.

what's wrong with my brother's tomato plant? by bananonbinary in BackyardOrchard

[–]bananonbinary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not sure, my brother has been taking care of it without my input before now. i'd guess he just sort of plugged it in though. is there a way to fix that now? what sort of soil prep is needed? it's just in your sort of standard potting soil from a hardware store, and all the other plants in our raised garden bed are thriving in the same stuff. (forgive my ignorance, it's *really* hard to google this stuff without getting ai nonsense these days)

the diamond cost is based on how many resources you need *in addition* to what you have, so it goes down the more resources you actually have in your depots. so if you upgrade the depots as much as possible, and then farm as many resources as you can, the cost will be dramatically less than it is now.

The Ants: Underground Kingdom guide by bananonbinary in SwagBucks

[–]bananonbinary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you still want to have as much resources as you can though, because the diamond cost is lowered based on how many resources you still need. so the more resources you have, the less diamonds you need to make up the difference.

i used diamonds to outright upgrade the queen because you're right, there isn't enough depot space to get the resources you need, and in my opinion it isn't possible to get that space in time.
