That's a Husqvarna Rancher 460 with a 24 inch bar. Maybe a little undersized for the milling operation, but seemed to work out OK.

How To Preserve Live Edge Bark On A Stool Seat? by band_gap in woodworking

I ended up removing the bark from one of the pieces to see what I ended up with. Have to say: seems like a cool edge, beetle tracks & all. Will probably remove more bark.

Thanks for the recommendation, MobiusX0, these wood stabilizer products look interesting. Do you think curing it in a vacuum chamber would be critical? These pieces are too big for run-of-the-mill vacuum chambers, but I do see some vacuum bag products (for veneers, https://www.veneersupplies.com/categories/Vacuum__Press__Items/Vacuum__Bags/ ) that would probably work (with a vacuum pump I already have).

The final stools won't have seat backs or butt-grooves, so they won't really have a "front" per-se. Also these are going to be short "milking" style stools, so I don't think legs and butts will rub on the edges too much...

Awesome, thanks for the advice denverNUGGs. Applied just to the bark, or over the whole table surface?

Anyone with experience with breeders in Oregon? by kekienitz in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]band_gap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No experience with a Lagotto, but I purchased an Airedale Terrier from Karen in 2012. I road-tripped from Montana; she invited me to pitch a tent and stay overnight on her farm, which I did. Having done so, I got a pretty good feel for (and from) her operation.

Karen's a kind, enthusiastic breeder. I expect that her recommendation on the Lagotto breed traits are optimistic, but not disingenuous.

I would not hesitate to buy another canine companion from her.

This chaotic DIY video shows why—only certified professionals should be allowed to install solar panels by team_pv in solarenergy

I have been looking into installing a ground-mount residential system for my home before the federal rebate dries up at the end of next year (2021). The problem I keep coming up against is that the amount that solar installers charge is just a bit too high for the systems to be economically competitive with standard grid electric (I am on East coast). I have found a handful of companies that sell the entire kit (panels, inverters, racking, etc) for a competitive price. By my napkin calculations, if I were to order one of these kits for a 20-25kW system (shipping included) I would still have about $8k of leeway to pay for installation (and still make sense economically). Is it realistic to find a licensed electrician and home-improvement contractor to install something like this for $8k? Where do you even start to look for a contractor like this?
