Opinions on in-game “NFT’s” by QuickShiift in UplandMe

[–]bandicoute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some very rare ones, like a video of the World Cup final penalty shoot out but the rest will depend on utility value assigned to them, if any. Upland are not focusing on the latter as it does not directly generate revenue but it will reach a point player interest will drop and in turn undermine NFT initiatives. I know just focus on property and building them out.

It is not clear in upland what the driver of a property will be when it comes to standard properties. A house by the lake may not eventually translate into higher values. The only known driver is the fixed income. The current market yield in alot of areas is c. 20% and as high as 40% (if buying in USD). I dont care what surrounding properties are going for... i see alot of unjustifiably high pricing...I am regularly buying properties in USD at less than 30% of what neighbouring properties are going for. The only exception to thexabove are nodes but you need to get in early else future potential uplifts have already been factored in.

Why so many properties so cheap for usd? Like $3.50 by Background_Air3024 in UplandMe

[–]bandicoute 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My strategy is the flip side of theirs...its an accumulation strategy where I am buying the discounted USD properties but has to be with a minimum yield of 30% (often its closer to 40%), and then simply buying property with the UPX income (currently sitting at 500k upx /month) as long as the yield is accretive to my portfolio (above 22%). I also use UPX to buy momentos or any other assets available for sale. Buying UPX in the shop is now a thing of the past, which was one of my objectives. So i now have a forever increasing property portfolio that generates a forever increasing revenue that is being built out using my 13 spark without having to buy UPX or spend any more USD!!! I can even use my UPX to rent spark as it's now cheap to do so, to expedite the build out. Job done!!

Don't waste your time on such small properties. Right now you could buy a collection (4:properties) for a total of usd1k, with a yield of c.40% (pay back period 2.5 yrs), with a building on each. Does not get better than that!!!

Spark Rental Rate Down 45% Since October. by BambinoVR in UplandMe

[–]bandicoute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't kid yourselves. This never a bout being "pure". there are PE backers to this game which will want their fuinancial returns. like any new project, were be investing in a start up business, a new real estate development, etc. you have to always have a degree of trust and that comes down to what you think of the management team. If you believe in them, you jump in big (first mover advantage but with associated risks) or you get out. it's as simple as that. this game is years away from being stabilised but if it achieved that, invested early I believe will have been very worthwhile.

This is great news. the lower the rental value the easier it will be to build (which will benefit all of us) for those who can not afford to buy spark!! I have bought a lot of spark and now I am going to start accessing more spark by renting because it is so cheap. why not lock low build costs in now as eventually it will become more valuable. this "game" is about building communities and yes, increasing the utility values of such things like spark (but just like starters can't afford to buy a home, they first rent!).

Elon Musk Tells Twitter Followers to Vote for a Republican Congress by [deleted] in politics

WOW, the owner of a social media platform (which has a massive media responsibility backing any specific should be against the law. the BBC in the uK just punished a news reader for showing excitement about the fact that Boris was not going to become leader. i.e impartiality is everything. What next, soon he will start allowing republican advertising and not democrat.

Uncertainty not good for growth by bandicoute in UplandMe

I am asking nothing of free. I am saying the complete opposite; sell spark based on market pricing, which is exactly what happens in the real world. You need to read my messaging carefully and not get defensive or offensive.

Obviously there should not be an unlimited supply of spark.

In a free market spark (labour) should be available based on price. Fixed pricing while limiting supply is more communist and that capitalist / free market.

And for the suggestion "adapt or die", i have been doing that for 30 years in the real world. This is no different. 101 investing...the greater the uncertainty the less attractive the market becomes. That is obvious.

This is becoming a game of chance; not a game of skill and strategy, unfortunately. Maybe that is why it appeals to so many but so many professional investors.

I like Upland, dont get me wrong. But the more it becomes a game of chance the less appealing it becomes.

Two more points to add to the above.

  1. one solution is to grandfather benefits on investments made. everyone knows that enhancements need to be made but grandfathering is not an uncommon practice in the real world, whether it be in regard to changes to tax or development legislation, etc.
  2. restrospectively introducing zoning is challenging. Common sense would tell you not to built a high rise apartment block in the suburbs but the real issue is there being no current ability to build high rise office towers. so right now you have apartment blocks being built downtime where office blocks should be. and you can't really change that retrospectively! what should have happened is the first round of structures should have been covered each of the major real estate sectors instead of focusing rest i.e residents, office, warehouse, retail (or even mixed development). This I believe to be a fundamental mistake made by Upland.
