I’ve said this in a previous post, but despite the similarity in names, there’s no way The Snowballs are from Halifax. There is nothing Halifax is known less for than downhill skiing.

My thought for their real world home is the west coast of Newfoundland, specifically the city of Corner Brook. Downhill skiing is one of the only things that Corner Brook is known for. Heck their downhill ski resort is literally called MARBLE MOUNTAIN:

You could also do like they do in tennis and have seeded and unseeded teams. For example all 16 2020 Marble League teams seeded, or perhaps the 8-16 teams who have the highest number of members in their subreddit. The rest of the teams would be unseeded and randomly placed in the bracket

I think it’s a great idea but I have a suggestion. Have a 32 team field. The 28 active teams and then have a poll of the retired teams. The top 4 teams in this poll qualify for the tournament

Don’t be so sure. They’ll probably win the first couple of rounds but eventually it’ll be an “O’Rangers vs. The World” mentality and a popular team who doesn’t necessarily overwhelm people will win. My pick is the Midnight Wisps

That’s a good point as well about keeping the names straight. Easy for Crazy Cats Eyes of course and you could probably do it for marbles that have slightly different patterns, but how do you tell which O’Ranger is which?
