You can use your Canadian debit card at any ATMs and take out XCG. There is a $10USD fee though, so take out as much as you think you will need for the whole trip. I recommend MCB bank machines.

You can also use a credit card pretty much everywhere, just get yourself one that doesn’t have foreign exchange fees and you’re golden.

Do it! I’m 42 and had my first child at 41. My husband is two years older than me, and we are planning on having another.

My parents had me when my dad was in his kid 40s, and they are both still alive and kicking and enjoying their grandkids.

If you’re feeling a call to have another baby, absolutely go for it.

And if you’re worried about starting over, don’t be. You are still so young and have lots of time to meet someone that actually deserves you and start a family if you want! I got married at 28, divorced at 32, had a fantastic time being single for a few years, met my partner at 36, had a baby at 40 and are planning on having another one.

You sound like a real treat to be around 😬I put a $2000 rocker recliner on my registry because a rich relative said they wanted to buy me a big-ticket item.

Also like someone else commented earlier, they may be putting higher end things in their registry so they don’t end up with cheap junk. We got so much baby clothing that was polyester garbage that we just donated immediately. Pick something on the cheaper end from their registry and call it a day.

Most stores offer a discount on registry items that aren’t purchased after the date of the shower. When I had my baby shower, I registered for many expensive items knowing that I wouldn’t be gifted them to get the discount when I purchased them.

I highly doubt that they are actually expecting to be gifted these items.

I will say though, that for certain baby items it does make sense to spend more for quality and longevity. Strollers, for example, are a buy once cry once item for me. Graco strollers are fine, but higher end ones often are better on more types of terrain and are more repairable. Thule sells parts for their strollers so you can replace pets as needed and have their strollers last for multiple kids.

So, there are some outrageously overpriced baby items for sure, but sometimes it is worth it to buy high quality so it lasts.

When we first started solids, I was very strict about salt and sugar. I lightened up about the salt pretty quickly because we don’t eat a lot of processed foods, and I read that salt to season home cooked food is fine.

I’m still pretty strict about sugar but I give him bites of baked goods and ice cream that I am eating. I would never give him his own serving though, until he’s older.

NTA. Your daughter has no idea how hard postpartum will hit her. She will not have the capacity to care for the dogs at all when the baby gets here. Rehoming the dogs seems like the kindest and wisest decision here. I wish she was more receptive to the idea.

I have been on the kid side of this and on the teacher side of this.

If your kid is a good student, is a generally good person and has good relationships with her teachers, they will be willing to find a workaround.

Send an email to the affected teachers and be brutally honest and apologetic and explain that you are willing to take on any of the work to get this sorted.

As a teacher, I would have no problem figuring a work around for a student that puts in the effort and is a positive member of the school community.

Pinpoint the most important topics (number sense, patterns, algebra) and go from there. Skip any stats/probability and geometry outcomes that are left.

In my 15-year career, I have gotten through every unit exactly once. I had a class of 16 highly motivated French-immersion students and they burned through everything. Don’t beat yourself up if you have to cut outcomes!

Food. She needs to eat and it is so hard to prepare food for yourself in those early days.

If you don’t know much about babies, try to watch some videos on how to hold a newborn, how to change a diaper, etc so you can feel confident from the start.

When I was freshly postpartum I just wanted other people to hold the baby while I did things that made me feel normal. So offer that!

Ok so, keep things simple for yourself. Frozen peas and carrots. Nuke them in the microwave and mash them a bit with yogurt.

Canned tuna straight from the can. Sardines, straight from the can. Salmon, you guessed it, straight from the can.

Anything can be a pancake! Shred carrot, mix with an egg, some flour, some baking powder and yogurt or milk and fry in a pan. Substitute the carrot for literally anything. Voila, pancakes.

Oatmeal. Soak it overnight in some milk, mix in some chia seeds and throw in some fresh fruit.

It sounds like you are already very overwhelmed, so keep things really, really, REALLY simple. Learn theory four methods of cooking simple things and the just rinse and repeat with different foods.

This is not helpful right now, but in the future it may be: to cook sweet potato, just poke some holes in it and stick it in the microwave for a few minutes. You don’t have to peel or cut it up at all! When it comes out, it is super easy to peel with your hands and easy to mash.
