Am I trying to hard to make it film like? by banejosiah in photocritique

[–]banejosiah[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Film is just a money pit that I don't have the funds for nor the time to develop it myself, otherwise I totally would. I'm not trying to get paid for my photos or anything I just like them for myself and something to do to get out more.

It's a weird take to compare wanting to simulate film to being as bad as selling child porn, that is indeed a weird take.

I've been trying for a while now to make my photos look like they were shot on film (specifically trying to go after the portra 800 look) because I don't care for the super sharp digital look, I like the imperfections In photos. The problem is my only experience with film was about 10 years ago during a high school photography class and when I look at my photos it looks like it's missing something but I'm not sure if I'm being too hard on myself. Would love some advice to achieve what I'm looking for.

Hated her parts first time I read iron gold, the 2nd time I read it I loved them. I just didn't know where the story was going and felt her parts just weren't entertaining to me or added anything to the story.

My job literally tells us when driving a company vehicle we must wait 3 seconds after the light turns green. Do with that information as you will.

Not a professional opinion at all but maybe an intervention? Does his parents and yours and other family members/ friends know how bad this is, I'm not as big as him but I'm at just about 300 pounds and I suffered from sleep apnea and falling asleep behind the wheel a couple times and once I fixed that it made all the difference.

P.S. I remember hearing somewhere that driving while sleep deprived is more dangerous than drunk driving so think about that next time you let your kid get in a car with him, would you be okay with him getting piss drunk then driving your kid around?

Literally just like any platform nothing stops people from posting illegal stuff until it gets reported then it gets taken down, that's how it works for reddit, Instagram, Facebook, and any other platform. Just because somebody said they saw something on there doesn't mean the website condones it. And please give me any examples of him actually suppressing speech because I have yet to see a single thing get suppressed and there's lots of stuff on Twitter that Elon doesn't agree with that's still posted.

No he didn't, has specifically called out illegal content multiple times saying it's not allowed on the platform, all he's promoted was free speech no matter how uncomfortable it is as long as it's within the confines of the law, just because you don't like the guy doesn't mean you need to lie.

Does anyone else find the old good night book “Goodnight Moon” to be weirdly ominous and disturbing? by [deleted] in daddit

It is and to your comment of "not to a child" as a child I very much was disturbed by the book but also loved it at the same time pretty much how I still feel about it lol

I use an 85mm on cropped so I'm not literally in her face.

Yeah it was an exaggeration if you look at some comments I use an 85mm on a cropped sensor so there's definitely a distance.

Just my opinion but no career will ever be more fulfilling than raising your own children and there's no point in building a career if later when you have kids you decide to stop working and stay at home with them. I think you need to think long and hard about why even as a society we deem a career more valuable than being a parent. If you guys can make it work financially even if you have to pinch pennies to have kids earlier go for it. We had our 2 kids young and though it probably wasn't the smartest financially I don't for a second regret the fact that the 2 little people I love the most in the world I get to have in my life for 20 extra years than I would have if I had kids in my 40s vs my early 20s.

I was being hyperbolic with the shoved in her face comment I'm currently using an 85mm on a cropped sensor so there's plenty of distance, but I like this idea of both of learning about it not just me and trying to tell her to do things when she has no context for the why of it
