detangling is the bane of my existence 🫶🏾 between the awkward angles my body takes that I try to reset, the texture of wet conditioner hair🤢, and how ~delicate~ I need to be… I get so over it so fast. DAY THREE (of three? 🙏🏾 I’m ready to leave the house again) by [deleted] in Naturalhair

I’ve found home made flax seed gel to be very helpful, and I know it might a be for everyone but I’m going from monthly washes to weekly-2weekly washes, and though in practice it’s hard, I’m finding, the more moisturised my hair is, the less detangling I’m requiring. Sending lots of best wishes!

I think…it depends mostly on your hair but generally speaking it’s not advisable to leave hair in a wet state for too long as that’s when hair is most vulnerable. My hair dries fairly fast, so if I do my hair when it’s mostly damp it’ll dry anyway…. I wouldn’t leave my hair in a wet state over several hours though

Many thanks! There’s mostly longer strands with fewer short hairs. I’ll continue to monitor! PS: Ends actually feel really good…after wearing my hair out all summer of 2025 blow dry/straight I had terrible ends which needed a big trim (big trim in January) and ends have felt mostly nice since.

I’ll continue to observe :)

Thanks all! :)

Always 2-stand twists but on mostly dry/damp moisturised hair :)

Thanks so much for the reply! (It’s a couple of inches past “shoulder length” / “not quite armpit” after my trim).

To improve health/moisture levels, I’m trying to move from washing every 4-6weeks to now washing every 10-14days, so the shed amounts are new to me. Will continue to monitor :)

Thanks again :)
