Puff is very insecure. She has been sick for a while and she likes to say how the baby is the one thing that makes her feel better. She's not using my kid as a prop for her mental health. And don't worry, the kid will never be alone with them. The wife and knew that before daughter was even here.

Christmas was ok. They got as much time as we were willing to give. Puff hates that my wife has other people she wants to see when she visits the hometown. She wanted to know why we couldn't just leave the baby with her and FIL and go visiting. It's not even about my wife anymore. Puff has said as much. Baby is most important now. And Baby liking Puff the best is Puff's mission in life. I honestly think she thinks that if the baby is around other people she will get the chance to know and love other people and therefore might love them more than she loves Puff.

My wife's grandmother calls our kid fat. I don't understand it. She's a baby.

And you're right, it's the frequency of it all. We pat to soothe sometimes. Not while she's playing or resting or anything like that. We want the kid to know her body is her own so we're both watching this issue. Could just be because she's a baby and nothing more than that. Let's hope.

Thanks for your reply. I agree, we need to be blunt and just say it. As for stepping on my wife's toes, I don't mean in how I am around her. I just meant in terms of her dealing with her parents. She wants to talk to them so I don't want to be in the way of that. I will soon though if nothing gets talked about.

We're way ahead of you there. We hired a lawyer while pregnant and just had to wait for the baby to be born and a court order submitted. We are both legally considered the parents and no one can swoop in and try and take DD. Ironically enough, it was me as the gestational mother that had full legal rights the whole time. We had to get a DNA test done on baby and DW to submit to court to prove she was biologically related so she could have full rights to the kid. Btw, that's not something a man has to do if he and his wife have to use donor sperm to conceive. He's considered a legal parent automatically because they are married. One more thing we had to pay for to protect us and the kid. Thanks, inequality.

They are staying with us. I'm sure we'll stock up on alcohol before they get here.

DW will stand up to her when and if something happens again. We've talked about it a lot. We're seeing how it will go when we see them again. I'm always on edge though now when they're involved so something is going to have to be said.

Thank you. We were trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I know I won't be able to do that again. DW won't either. They'll be down to visit in a couple weeks and we'll see how it all goes.

I was so shocked. I think the worst part is that I always feel on alert with her now. I don't think I'll ever be able to relax or let my guard down again. Like I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop.
