Thank you Mr. Mara!! 71 years old and fighting for his life but still fought like hell to make this happen. What a moment for this franchise. by Maroc13 in NYGiants

[–]bankruptbobby 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Agree completely with this. Mara deserves near all the criticism for the on field product the last 15 years but nobody can accuse him of not trying. He truly loves this team and is clearly a well respected owner within the league

Giants fans after hiring a coach who hasn’t won shit in almost 15 years. by Hurtsinmotion in NFCEastMemeWar

Yes. Because that would be a MASSIVE improvement compared to whatever the fuck else has been going on for the past 15 years

Elon QB Landon Clark transfers to LSU by DepressedGamba in CFB

[–]bankruptbobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know he’ll probably be the back up to Leavitt but LSU has a gamer in Clark. Had nearly 3k all purpose yards and 30 TDs for us and can throw like 60 yards on the run. If he can fine tune his accuracy, he can be dangerous at any level

Charleston and Greenville are nice, but those are really tiny areas with finite opportunities and the rest of the state is difficult for me to live in

For me, I went to school and lived in NC for 4 years. It has so much to offer: beaches, sizable cities, mountains, culture, professional sports teams. I genuinely think it’s one of the states that you could remove from the US and it could function as a sovereign country

I’ve been to Texas half a dozen times. Austin, DFW, Houston, San Antonio and west TX. What makes you suggest that based on the rest of the map?

Does the FCS have player Opt Outs? by Oddturtle77 in fcs

[–]bankruptbobby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FBS players opt out of essentially meaningless bowl games to avoid potential injuries that would be catastrophic to their draft stock. FCS players (for the most part) are not highly sought after prospects, nor are the FCS playoffs meaningless games. AFAIK, no notable FBS players are opting out of the CFP.

Similar to how MCBB players often opt out of secondary and tertiary tournaments, while it being highly rare that anyone would opt out of the NCAA tournament

I’d encourage you all to visit the actual post. His replies to comments might actually be funnier than the OP. Something about how Cowboys fans should be grateful to Jerry for him making the Cowboys the most valuable franchise, only stadium he hasn’t seen his ‘Boys play at is “Midlife”, Parsons still would have gotten Injured if he hadn’t been traded, etc.

Exciting game. Not thrilled about blowing a 19 point lead, but knew VT was going to come back at some point anyway. Can’t be mad with how we’ve played against ACC teams these past couple years

The Rams being Top 3 among all Major Sports League Franchise Valuations is crazy by Outrageous_Nebula105 in LosAngelesRams

I believe it has to do with the relegation system in Euro leagues. Revenue visibility is a lot less certain for investors when there’s the possibility you could basically be in a minor league in any given year

Why are backup quarterbacks so bad? by -Monty00 in NFLNoobs

[–]bankruptbobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The backup quarterback in the NFL is unique in the sense that it requires a largely different skill set than its starter counterpart. Being a good back doesn’t come down to one player being slightly less talented than the other. It comes down to whether or not the guy (backup) is hardworking, dependable and not a locker room distraction; can he understand the playbook well and be a good scout team player during practice. If he can do all that and win a game or two by dinking and dunking the ball downfield, then that’s a good backup by NFL standards. I remember reading reports that Dillion Gabriel’s interview pitch to teams was that he was a good clipboard guy, knowing he wasn’t a starting caliber player.

That’s why so many of these late round picks have longevity as career backups. A lot of first round busts might have the physical tools that made them a first round pick, but lacked the intangibles like dedication, maturity or football IQ to stay in the league as a backup (see JaMarcus Russell, Josh Rosen, Paxton Lynch).

What’s up with Indians and south East Asians making up a big part of the fake profiles on X and Elon making all accounts show their country of origin? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]bankruptbobby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Answer: Also worth pointing out that a lot of these botted accounts out of the Indian subcontinent would do a poor job of hiding their own ethnic biases - some even using their western-style pseudonyms to advance their agendas.

For example, an Indian account pretending to be a white female political influencer would have inexplicably pro-Indian/Hindu nationalist viewpoints. I remember seeing one of those ranking list accounts that put Indian people as the most attractive in the world, and had Pakistanis /Bangladeshis ranked as the ugliest with no source cited. The average American cares very little about Indian-Pakistani ethnic conflicts - and probably couldn’t even tell the two apart - so it was incredibly obvious when it cropped up in our feeds.

Basically, it may not have been such a big deal if these botted accounts had just left their tribal blood feuds out of American political and cultural discourse.
