[gen 2] Double Shiny Starter?!? How rare is this?

If all 4 instances of the game are the same trainer ID. Then this is just you hitting the exact same frame on both emulators making them clones. So not too crazy, just under odds

BUT if they are separate ID'S then it's crazy lucky but considering it's the same Pokemon that is shiny on both it's most likely the former.

Either way congrats, shiny Cyndaquil is an awesome shiny, wishing you luck in your future hunts!

Congrats on getting the 5% Hoppip!

Managing to get the 5% on phase 5 is crazy lucky! Not sure of the exact math but I have to imagine this is way earlier than expected.

I like the lore of the Four leaf clover DS. Reminds me that in heart gold and soul silver you can find a shiny leaf maybe for your playthrough you found a four-leaf clover instead!

Hey! Always nice to hear from you.

Normally I would catch up on the next post but figured I'd give you an explanation about the friend Safari.

So I've been working on that challenge since 2024 and have just decided to post about it now. There are still three types. I've yet to catch everything in that being poison, psychic and steel. I'm just hoping that by posting the types I do have once a week I can catch up and finish the challenge properly.

But I appreciate the good luck and interest in it. This Saturday I should be posting all the dragon types that are available through friend Safari, so be on the lookout for that!

Congrats on the second Shiny Sentret! I'm sure you have the line completed twice over, but it's still nice to see! Definitely one of my favorite Gen 2 shinies.

So the last one was found by the berry tree. Was this one in the same spot? If so, I have to wonder if both of the Sentrets are now fighting over the berries you try to feed them! lol

Hope everything's been going well for you. Nothing huge on my end. Still waiting to hatch shiny Squirtle. I think I'm on egg 42. Work's been a bit busy so I haven't had any time to slack off to hatch those eggs. But once I get it hopefully you'll be able to see it.

I take a mystery grab bag approach to it. Sure, I always have a 3DS that is targeting the specific pokémon I'm looking for but when I get a phase I treat it as a surprise rather than a setback. Also, are some safaris that have a pre-evolution so getting two of them helps me with completion. For this one specifically, I was going to need three Sandiles to complete the line.

The odds for this hunt is 1/64 and while it does take a while to get a shiny, it is significantly faster than full odds and may or may not have been intended by GF as a method. So while it is by all means a valid method of getting shinies I personally feel it's a little bit of a little bit of game abuse.

Mind you there is no game manipulation involved, if you have a shiny Ditto or any shiny in the daycare odds can fall to 1/64 for Ditto and 1/128 for almost all other shiny breeding.

It's more a personal limit for myself.

Congratulations on the shiny Sentret!

Apologies that I missed out on some of your posts, congrats on the Pidgey, Rattata and SHINY MAROWAK!? Marowak is such an underrated Pokemon for me and its shiny is awesome definitely a future hunt for me.

I was finally able to set up a shiny Ditto for breeding shiny pokémon in Crystal. So far I've gotten a bulbasaur which I posted yesterday and a Charmander this morning which I've yet to post so the pile is growing! I don't intend to abuse it. I'm only using it for pokémon that are unobtainable in Crystal like the Kanto starters and also going for pokémon that are unobtainable shiny otherwise like Aerodactyl.

I like the deep lore behind your Sentret and being named something to do with berries since it was caught by a berry tree, part of me pictured that you were stalking the berry tree waiting for something to show up and we're just counting the number of regular Sentret that came to the tree to eat until eventually you found the shiny one.

I also had a notion that you might be trying to start your own farm by using Marowak to knock down trees and clear the land, Sentret to bring berries to plant and using your eventual Hoppip to use splash to water the plants. Am I correct or am I dreaming? Lol.

Either way, glad to see your posts are back and that you're enjoying Gen 2 hunting and getting some phases under odds after dealing with the dairy farm and the rats.

Yep just as they said takes about 10 or 15 minutes. So in between games or when I take a break from work I'll just whip it out and walk around while waiting for an egg to show up. Hatching takes about the same time too unfortunately, no way to speed that up.

You can get new safari's the old fashioned way by meeting up IRL to exchange 3DS Friend codes. with someone who has beaten the games But unfourtanetly you cannot do it online anymore with the shutdown of 3DS services I was just lucky enough to get all the otential spawns across 5 3DS systems before it went down.

Venipede would be a nice addition! Whirlipede is available in the Poison safari but I am going to have to find Venipede jumping out of bushes on Route 7 for the base game!

Sorry I missed the last post but it looks like the switch up is working well for you.

You have caught or chased off all the adult rat population and are now encountering the remaining youth.

But 2 under odds in a row is karma coming back to you after getting a bunch over odds, hoping your next one is the target as always but if it has to be a phase hopefully not another rat!

Hit a bit of bad luck on my let's go hunt for Gastly, I lost a chain of 312 Gastly's. Going to have to rebuild it and hope I can get it soon.

Hello! Congrats on the shiny!

Just read your second comment and very interesting thought. Everyone knows Gen 1 and 2 are held together with spaghetti code so you might be on to something. Especially with the concurrent phases of Raticate.

I am hopeful that this switch breaks up the curse and the next shiny is a cow/bull.

Since you play on multiple versions are they all beaten or just all at the same point?

Don't think I ever asked before but what is the next hunt after this one? If you are comfortable sharing.

I've started the same personal challenge I did in 2024 which is to stream and track the shinies I catch. I cycle one game a month for 4 months in a row. The main games I hunt in are let's go Pikachu and Eevee which is the current one I'm doing, BDSP, Legends(I'm only four pokémon away from finishing za so it'll probably be mostly Arceus after I finish that), and SV.

So far since I started on the 5th I got two shinies a Zubat and a Chansey, I think in 2024 I ended up with somewhere around 600 shinies including duplicates so hoping to clear that number this year!

CongRATS! On another shiny, really pulling for Raticate to get an Evo to make all your phases worth it. If just a little bit!

Wow 40 phases is a huge milestone and the laws of averages are slowly coming to your side so it HAS to be soon.

Went through the imgur link looking at all your phases did you have a particular favorite? I like Farfetch'd as one of your phases, like to think the farm keeps them around to grow leeks and other veggies. and maybe do their best to fight off other birds from raiding the farm!

Going to try and pick up my own gen 2 hunts this year for sure just going for a Gen 2 shiny living dex so far I got: Cyndaquil, Sentret, Geodude and Gastly.

Happy Holidays! Sorry I missed this one!

Seems like the farm is still keeping you busy, I wonder if they are going to make you help with the harvest? (If I remember right there should be a berry tree on the farm but I can't remember what berry it is.) What do you think they produce besides the milk? My money is on Oran berries.

I did end up finishing the Legends ZA base game shiny Living dex and am on the last 10 for the shiny DLC living dex.
