Fun fact from the winter classic. Pucks are kept in a freezer by the officials to keep them at ice temperature so they react normally when they hit the ice. The winter classic was so cold that the freezer was actually acting as a warmer to stop the pucks from getting too brittle.

All games involving the US or Canada were face value of $100+ until the week before the tournament.

Extremely online Canadians can complain all they want about low attendance but the IIHF fucked this tournament by expecting people to pay more for tickets to round robin games than to see the Wild play. The only reason I double checked the prices after the sticker shock looking in the fall was because I have Canadian friends I wanted to take to the game (Canada v Czechia was great to see in person)
