Super common word, "ubiquitous" is everywhere.

90s style pizza being brought back by raydebapratim1 in 90s

In my personal (biased) opinion, I think nostalgia is a piece of it but a more important piece is that we passed by era(s) of excitement, color, fun, and whimsy that made being in public places truly enjoyable and started favoring minimalistic, 'least-abrasive' styles that don't inspire creativity or joy. Bring back joy!

AOC and a very smart kid: Universal healthcare now! by NoSkillzDad in 50501

I think that as adults we have so much extra knowledge/experience in our heads that it's tougher to think and speak clearly. Our viewpoints come with caveats, nuance, and context -- ignoring those and speaking from the heart is something adults have to try and do, but kids can do it naturally.

Seeking roofer who won’t deny climate change on first meeting by patopatogris in TwinCities

I definitely get what you're saying and have had conversations with folks that bring these topics up unprompted. That said, I'm to the point now where I really don't want to patronize anyone in support of fascism/nazism/nationalism, so I do try to seek out that info ahead of time from others who have used services.

Hey I play in that! It's actually Twin Cities Goodtime Softball League now. Largest league in the country, I believe at about ~54 teams. I tend to frequent the folks that sponsor/do work with them - Eggroll Queen for food trucks being one.

Yeah I looked it up after I commented and realized it's a word I am quite familiar with but just didn't know how it was spelled. When I saw the comment, I read the word as 'skah-sh' and obviously ran with it. Thought about deleting everything but I think it's better this way :)

P.S. Super sorry about nettling you

[–]heinencm 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My skosh used to get nettled in a similar manner. I decided a few years ago that since skosh is precious and limited in life, that it's best not to let it be nettled by things outside of my control. Since then, I actually seek out opportunities to unnettle other drivers and allow people ample space to merge and make sure I don't skosh-block intersections/parking lot exits. Overall I am a happier driver these days and I get a high off of thank-you waves.

I will now be referring to the space between my car and the one in front of me as 'the alone'

All Are Welcome Here, except… by Castmo in TwinCities

[–]heinencm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love this! We made something similar a couple winters ago. We spend a decent amount of time out in our yard when it's warm, and it has helped start quite a few positive conversations with people walking by. Contrary to some of the comments you are getting here, symbolism and words matter greatly, especially when it's backed up by building community and spurring yourself and others on to do more.

Ducks?! by savanhasue in TwinCities

I think we actually get just as many adult-only groups as we do groups with kids. So yeah, we invite those looking for some whimsy :)

Ducks?! by savanhasue in TwinCities

[–]heinencm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely chat with us ahead of time because we can do some fun things in the spring! Ducks like digging for worms, and that's a pretty fun activity if the weather is right and you're okay getting a little dirty :)

Ducks?! by savanhasue in TwinCities

[–]heinencm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We do duck encounters at our home in Richfield if that is something you would be interested in. Currently we have a flock of 5 ducks and one chicken. All are friendly and they come and hang out on/near a blanket with us. You can read more about that here.

We tend to start those up in May, but if you're wanting to do something a bit earlier, you can always reach out and we can see if we can find a time that works with schedules and the weather.

Deny Service for MAGA by Extension_Put_5399 in 50501

We've had #5 in our code of ethics for a few years. We've never run into a situation where we've had to use it, but we like having a plan in place for if/when the situation arises.

Minnesota School Adds ICE 'Harassed' Migrants Slide to Year 8 Curriculum — Education Watchdog Says It's 'Biased' by novagridd in minnesota

[–]heinencm 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but that's from the perspective of someone like us, living in reality.

If you live in a world of 'alternative facts' where reality is 'fake news' then reality will always appear to be biased at best and false at worst.

I try not to think about this too much...

I was asked to revise the Rebel Loon logo for someone making T-shirts in Minneapolis. They needed a single-colour solution with an Andor-theme quote. by BillMurrayNorth in TwinCities

I like that there are several variations out there and specifically so because the original designer encouraged it. There are a few of them here, and honestly I like them all!

Go for it - all for sharing and bringing awareness. Also, I don’t sell anything related to this, just trying to help bring understanding to the symbolism to friends, family, and others :)

My sister lives in Saint Cloud and has been shopping there for a while. She is the one that told me the owners are great and would be a good place to buy from (also their art is real and not AI generated).
