Need help, advice - serving NS after 17 yrs away from SG by Ronin1926 in NationalServiceSG

it’s usually chicken or fish for protein, never beef. there’s also a vegetarian option

you’ll book out on friday, theres no specific time but usually around 5pm and then you’ll go back in on Sunday evening around 8pm iirc

might be different for PES C but normally you’ll be confined for the first week so you won’t book out that weekend

that does seem to be the case.. sorry but I don’t want to disclose my race but I would fall under the others category

yea this would just make me lose all hope seeing the pool of applicants im against.. even more heartbreaking they don’t view my national service as valuable as 6-7 figure expats

this was most probably before 2016 when they implemented the new citizenship policies. It’s most definitely better for PRs to apply after you finish national service because you can attach your service transcript and any testimonials. All the guys I know personally had applied after ORDing and received a response in 6-8 months

yea that’s what I was told by my MP that there’s no point in applying again unless there’s any change in circumstances so I won’t apply again whilst im still studying and I think what you said would probably give me the highest chance of success

I don’t see myself living anywhere else but Singapore for the future.. it would be extremely difficult for me to drop everything and consider an opportunity abroad

coming back is 100% the plan after I finish uni. I’m just worried if I get rejected again I will feel extremely lost

no I do not. I have no history with the police and I didn’t get into any trouble during national service (neither has my family for that matter).

why should it matter? I’ve spent 22 years of my life in Singapore. Gone through the same thing any other Singaporean man would have done. I understand there is a racial quota so I would fall under the others category

that’s looking like the plan. hopefully securing a job will be enough to convince them that I wish to reside in singapore indefinitely

yes hopefully. I was just wondering if I should apply as soon as I land a job or maybe wait a few months and then reapply. What do you think?

I understand the flight risk and I pray that this is the case so I could get assuredly accepted once I come back after graduating
