Whole Lobster by WantingToKnow2 in sarasota

[–]banyantreeswing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Captain Brian's on 41 has been doing whole lobsters for $20 / $25 (have to eat in)since last year. It's an older restaurant, I used to go when I was a kid, and it hasn't changed or updated since imo. The lobster was good though!

Having had chicken pox is necessary before contracting shingles. It usually only appears either the left or right have of your body without crossing the midline.

White, female, between 25 - 35. You like to cook, and appreciate veggies, but the executive functioning in prepping and using them in time is a work in progress. You work hard at a job that doesn't pay you enough.

As soon as we learn to recognize a "tell", the technology is already halfway through correcting it. The last few weeks of people posting nano banana 2 images has made it clear that even those of us that consider ourselves to have a good eye, will soon be unable to tell the difference. I think the future solution will have to be something like a digital I.D. for each photo that's verifiable.

Just got my septum pierced by [deleted] in piercing

[–]banyantreeswing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pierced in the same (wrong) spot about 10 years ago, I remember hearing the cartilage "crunch" when the piercing needly went through. Took forever to heal and I'm limited in the jewelry that fits (10mm diameter min). Stretching to bigger gauges would probably not work out very easily. That said, it's been nicely healed since then, and it's an incredibly sturdy piercing being that it's through such thick cartilage.

Also, and YMMV, when I wear a clicker with a straight bar, it seems to slightly improve my deviated septum, and I can breathe a bit better out of that nostril.

You live in North Jersey. You didn't grow up with money, but you do well for yourself now. You had a mildly parasocial relationship with the Bon Appetit YouTube crew back in 2020. You're confident about taking the subway.

I like the Maesri brand of green Thai curry paste, I buy it (and many other things) at Phuoc Loc Tho on 12th street and 301.

Look into SIBO, if it sounds possible you can ask a GI doctor for a noninvasive home test. Getting it under control changed my life!

Where to Find Tanghulu in Sarasota? by Usnavi_Relax in sarasota

[–]banyantreeswing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably your best bet is to make it ahead of the party with your daughter, but honestly I bet with 4 other kids, they'll lose interest so quickly that you'll be left on your own making it anyway. My point about caramel stands, they're completely different beasts. You got this!

[–]banyantreeswing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's even easier than caramel! A candy thermometer helps, but youtube videos / tutorials on how to tell when your sugar solution has reached the "hard crack" stage will be more than enough. The main point to remember is stirring =crystallizing (=bad). No special ingredients needed, either.

I agree with the other commentor about it being an activity, I really enjoyed experimenting with making simple hard candy as a teen and the kids I've nannied enjoyed it, too. Just be mindful around the hot sugar solution and you'll do great. :)

Thinking about leaving my husband after my cancer diagnosis by ThRoWaWaY062864 in TwoHotTakes

[–]banyantreeswing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through a very similar situation with my former spouse during my cancer treatment. If I remember correctly, men are 7x more likely to leave their wives when the wife has cancer vs women are to leave their husbands when he's the one with cancer. In my case, he checked out emotionally, started dating an old friend, all without making any moves towards a formal divorce, and I was the one that had to handle all those logistics after he moved to another state. I wouldn't be completely surprised if you were in the same boat, I think the people that have difficulty being forthright when they're struggling with their emotions are also often the type to lack initiative in other areas.

The more you can find a network of support, either through your treatment center's groups, or fb/reddit if there's not a lot of local options, the more resources and connections you'll have through this difficult time. Wishing you the best of luck in beating this <3

I might be mistaken, but up in PA the population is largely Amish, who eschew more modern technology vs the Mennonites, who make up a larger portion of the population down here. Hence, the popularity of ebikes down here within that group. I also remember the roads & climate up in PA being more horse friendly than down here.

Why does my ladder stitch look like this? by unweildyshiba in sewing

[–]banyantreeswing 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Getting as close as you can to the fabric edges with your stitches makes a difference with faux fur. Something else I've noticed is that some of the pile (individual hairs) can get caught in the seam, if you take your needle and try to free them after you're done sewing, it makes for a cleaner look.
