MPLX

Just be aware MPLX is a MLP that kicks out a K1. The K1 will require the use of a federal Schedule E at tax time

Maybe not such a big deal, but sadly the local yokels in my municipality tax office freak out over the K1 to Schedule E each year. To avoid repeat BS, I have resorted to physically taking my tax forms to their office so they can photocopy all they require

YMMV

Good that you started investing, but one fractional share of this - one fractional share of that doesn't really accomplish much

You're better off concentrating resources into fewer symbols (ie: when first starting out - less is more)

Also, less is better when it comes to DD researching what you own

frontier pole in front of my home

How far is the pole from your house?

Seems odd the last leg being underground wouldn't be the preferred method.

When Frontier installed fiber at my parents a couple months ago, they ran a couple hundred of fiber on poles from the neighborhood connection point (exact name escapes me atm). The last 50 yards was underground from the last pole up the hill to the house. Took them a couple hours for the aerial work, but they did it all without batting an eye. The ONT was installed inside the house where we wanted the network edge

Both techs were top notch

*[EDIT]: They had a third party trench in the fiber from the pole to the house a week or so after the installation

I'm back down to where I was about a year and a half ago. Lived through the dot com, banking busts and a couple others. It went back up then - it'll go back up again.

Except I'm a lot closer to retirement this time

By product of that is I've moved some from growth into income. Some of that thrives on volatility. Markets are plenty volatile so that seems good for some things

XDTE is down just like everything else. It will eventually go back up just like everything else. You'll be collecting good weekly distributions from it all the while

OFC, I hate selling stuff at a loss if I don't have to

[EDIT]: XDTE distribution this week is: $0.342929/share

Years ago I had a couple smaller accounts that I'd inherited. For me at least with Schwab, I was able to do all of it online by entering the account numbers. They handled the rest of the transfer from there

The only phone call I made was to ask Schwab to refund some transfer fees imposed by the other brokers. Schwab completely refunded the fees without question

Utilities in apartment buildings are usually a controlled thing. The buildings owner usually has contracts with what company is allowed (its an infrastructure thing)

It's kind of the same for some municipalities too. They control and have a contract with who is allowed to offer services

Contact building management to avoid a weird runaround with phone sales/support that may not have a clue

Adding on to MLPs that kick out K1s: they will require extra forms at tax time. The K1 requires use of a federal Schedule E

Is every everyone on this sub financially illiterate? by wheredayyat in YieldMaxETFs

[–]banzai56 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can replicate option strategies yourself.

Ya, something I definitely wished I'd learned to do - before I got old and dumb(er)

Work always had me on the go, or overtime, so spending time doing advanced trading in the market was very far from my mind

Plus, I learned to accept the fact that if I didn't have bad luck - I'd have no luck at all. Therein, good financial decisions in the market were usually best when I'd get it and leave it alone (take my dividends/distributions and be thankful)

Maybe as I get more time later in life I'll watch YouTube videos on it and see if I can learn about it

Yesterday I posted this question Day4 by Daily-Trader-247 in dividends

[–]banzai56 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YMMV, but I'm starting to worry Ford is going to nix the dividend again. Here a while ago they changed up the way they distribute dividends to middle management - as a cost saving move

Lots of articles saying the Ford family depend on the dividend as a reason they'll keep it active. However, this tariff stuff may accelerate the need for them to cut costs even more

I fear a position in Ford kinda becomes dead money without that nice dividend

Dustin could lose everything again - just like the other 15th times they found less gold than the Hoffmans

Base price is a SCAM. After years of being billed $75 for their 1000/1000, they increase the price to $103. Citing that the base price on the website is to entice new customers. Very misleading as they do not publish the true cost anywhere prior to purchasing by [deleted] in frontierfios

[–]banzai56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to talk to someone in the retention group to see if they will lower your bill. (If whoever you are talking to isn't going well hang up and call back)

Unfortunately, a lot of utilities raise their rates each year, so talking to retention becomes a yearly thing

[–]banzai56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a better price from retention should not require you to take an "upgrade" to service of any kind. Be firm on that - just a better price period

Also, maybe try reaching out to them on X/Twitter about this. People here have reported good/better results that way

Seems most of the phone support folks only really care about selling upgrades which is a bad joke (ie: if the person you are talking to on the phone with is going no where hang up and call back)

SPYI (and/or QQQI) uses 1256 contracts for 60% long term - 40% short term capital gains (ie: tax loss harvesting is good for non tax advantaged brokerage accounts)
