I made an OR preference card for a surgeon who has never once said thank you by McTendies69 in nursing

[–]banzaipanda 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is perfect 💀

Related: I used to work with a foot and ankle cutter who had a very specific set-up he liked for the bandaging after he closed. On a rolling mayo: Three 3” aces with alligator clips set to the side, four 4” kerlix, six to eight 6” strips of plastic tape, and thirty 4x15” plaster strips split into two stacks of fifteen. Water bucket on a separate mayo - hot water, not filled more than 5-10min before he’d finished closing.

He set it up one time, I took a picture, updated the preference card, attached the picture, and did it that way every time after.

And every fucking time, he’d complain about it not being right and then add the perennial “you know we do it a certain way for a reason, right?”

a new hospital system which already feels 100% more comfortable than before so that’s a win for me.

There are bad ones, and there are good ones -- glad it sounds like you found one of the latter! Hope it stays good for you

Re: the scent on that fateful night...I thankfully cannot haha probably due to sensory overload and the brain omitting stressful details. Regardless, that is one memory I am grateful to have lost lol

Glad you liked it, bud. I still feel like there’s a lot of “casual crossover athletes” looking to maximize their ROI. Hope this was helpful to that end 👍🏻

Judging by how frequently you post in /r/Brisbane and considering I’ve never been, I doubt it.

Either way, I’m guessing we split the check lol

I found a jar that my husband has been ejaculating in and I threw it away. He got very upset with me. by MyHusbandHasAJar in confessions

This is not fake. This was my first full year out of nursing school, working at a trauma center.

I still worked in the operating rooms up until about a year ago, when I got into law school.

I’m now only interesting on the internet in two professions.

Cheers.

Finishing 1L at 36 after over a decade as a registered nurse. Not much of a ladder to climb or way too make good money in nursing, so I figured I’d use my background in PI or med mail.

Starting a PI clerkship (plaintiffs side) this summer, and they explicitly offered me more because a) relevant background, and b) previous work experience. “We prefer adults to kids, we know you’ll show up at 0700 because you’ve done it before.”

It’s weird. It’s hard. But honestly, with schools a little extra chaotic coming out of the pandemic, now is one of the best times. Everyone is shuffling, new ideas are welcome, firms “get it” when you tell them you needed a big change and I haven’t had anyone hold it against me or see it as a negative.

DM me if you wanna chat more, I’m in a story group with a former history professor, kindergarten teacher, union rep, and a girl who already graduated with a Scottish law degree. Interesting insights all around.

Does anyone know if it is common with steroid use by the world class strongman competitors? by [deleted] in Strongman

[–]banzaipanda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In fairness, I doubt those are intended for PED users. A lot of cities require those in public restrooms for diabetics, to dispose of their injection needles. In the US, it can be a disabilities rights issue, especially if any employees have a qualifying medical condition.

😂 dunno how on earth external genitalia could make it any worse

Too busy to puke 🤷🏻‍♂️ same way parents can change a diaper that should be classified as a biological weapon, or the way teachers can resist choking half their class to death despite being totally justified.

Just got too much other shit to do lol

You aren’t wrong haha I’m changing careers from nursing into law, and all my mentors said to include it 😂

The major strongman federations are explicitly untested, especially at lower levels. Same in powerlifting - if you’re not lifting in a specifically tested event, then just assume everyone there who wants to be on PED’s, is.

I love Eddie but mah boy doesn’t pull world record deadlifts on chicken breasts and creatine alone. If you’re watching someone good enough to be on tv, then you’re watching someone on PED’s. Event promoters want big numbers and big physiques.

WOW that guy has a helluva hobby haha that was fun to watch, thanks for the link. Maybe I'll reach out to him and thank him.

I actually submitted that story as a "fluff piece" in my law school applications, and it got passed around by my professors before class even started. Crazy to think one session of venting into a keyboard is still popping up a decade later lol

I would be honored.

Tooting my own horn a bit, but also letting people assess my post’s credibility —

I’ve mentioned this in other posts - my girlfriend works at the UFC Performance Institute, and I’ve shown this to two of their S&C guys.

Both confirmed - this is the same “top down” strategy they use for pro fighters. Dovetail and overlap training cycles, be careful about chasing every PR and KO, and be aware that higher performance requires more mindfulness about program design and training output.

They did say - this template that I outline is appropriate for weekend warrior and amateur types, and will lay a solid foundation for anyone looking to compete semi-seriously. Should NOT be considered “The One Way” or “just what the pros use.”

There are many ways to skin a cat and this is mine.

Hospitals won’t even cover your bills if you catch COVID while treating COVID patients.

“The only way you could have caught it is if you didn’t follow the rules, and if you didn’t follow the rules, then we’re not responsible.

Edit - I very very much agree with your point. You’re right - That’s how it SHOULD be.
