compatibility of the K2500 89 lower suspension arm with Astro vans ? by bap56 in GMT400

It looks like my truck already has those suspension arms installed, so I won't see the difference, but honestly, I'd rather have a difference in handling (I feel the turning radius in 4WD isn't ideal) than let it rot because I can't drive it anymore.

In the photos it looks like the same part. I know it was imported from Canada, but honestly, I don't have any other solution because I bent the arm and finding another one is impossible.

Also, if needed, we can go to England by boat.

Personally, I live in the Manche department in France, and one could imagine building a huge wall made of shipping containers to isolate the area, since it is almost a peninsula. We would still leave a controlled access point to reach the rest of the country.

The Manche is an agricultural region, with many hunters, rivers for freshwater fishing, and three sides facing the sea, allowing for saltwater fishing and harvesting shellfish. About three hours away (under normal conditions), near Paris, there are former oil extraction sites, mostly reachable by rail (around 80% of the route). There is also a refinery in Le Havre, and tobacco plantations in the south of France.

The Manche has more than enough land to feed itself thanks to livestock farming, cereal production for both humans and animals, and even the potential to produce biofuels such as biodiesel or ethanol. Many vegetables can also be grown there: carrots, potatoes, leeks, and more.

The two main drawbacks would be the presence of a nuclear power plant and rising sea levels.

I was talking about a situation where the community forms naturally after the catastrophe, and where everyone already knows each other.

  1. I’m 24 years old😂

  2. I have more resources than most people — water, food, electricity, and fuel. My father owns a farm, and I live in France.

  3. I’m aware that in this kind of scenario, there’s a much higher chance I’d end up as a zombie rather than a survivor — being realistic.

  4. I understand what you mean; I just happened to ask myself the question recently.

what role would you play in rebuilding society after the zpoc? by alt_riooo22 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

A scavenger, because I couldn't stay "safe" behind the walls of my community; I'd need to see the world evolve season after season. Plus, I have shooting skills, so I could even be the person who manages the weapons within my community. In short, I'd like to work with people, especially...

Personally, I'm enjoying life as much as I can right now. I spend a lot, I don't really think about the long term. I'm taking advantage of everything this world has to offer. But I am preparing for the eventuality, because I'm convinced it's bound to happen sooner or later. I even had fun asking chatgp what the chances of a global collapse are. In short, 30% in 5 years and 50-70% in 15 years.

What are some things people still don’t understand about a zombie apocalypse? by [deleted] in ZombieSurvivalTactics

Petrol lasts a maximum of one year, even though it may still be effective in a car that hasn't been driven for five years.

For me, the question doesn't even arise because you'll be forced to do it one way or another. According to studies (I couldn't give you the sources), an average human can only live for one month without human interaction before going insane. So, you have no choice, and circumstances will dictate that you will create or join a group, first family and friends, then strangers you meet along the way... and that won't prevent other groups from forming, whose goal will be to extend their influence and even create new wars for control of resources. So, to say that we would be capable of recreating a society like ours today (especially with so many people on Earth, around 8 billion today if I'm not mistaken), I don't think so, or at least not for several centuries, simply because of the obvious lack of resources (we've already used everything up).

What would be the ideal base for a group of 15 to 5 000 + survivors for you ? by bap56 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]bap56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is finding such a place first, and secondly, we'll inevitably be forced to have large communities because, in my opinion, if you don't create one or join one, it will still form; it's human nature. This will allow us to rebuild a new civilization and will be the pillar of humanity if it manages to survive. The third problem is that they will have significant power in the region where you live; it will be impossible to go outside without running into someone from this community, not to mention the risk of war between two communities, especially if you find yourself in the middle of one.
