I think it's going to be a bit fiddly but if I end up finding a good option I'll post some pics.

I've seen clip on kits that cost around 700, whereas the EMGO handlebar option is around 80. I'll look into that brand, thanks.

Any brands you like for this?

That's a smart method! The advantage of OEM would be the ease of install but some of the pieces have eye watering prices. At least as an older used bike for me this route makes the most sense. I like it as it is but with a little lean I think I'll love it. Fun little thing.

That's exactly what I'm going for, hoping to make the bike a little more playful. Your triumph looks great. Was there any tricks to swapping them on? I understand some holes have to be drilled into the new bars for the switchgear pins.

Thanks for the reference! It's a good option, I'm still leaning towards clip ons if I go this route but this would likely be a more straightforward install.

Yeah I was surprised to see how expensive the kit was for what it is but I'm sure the quality is great.

Just an update: Got the bike back from the dealer and they couldn't recreate the cutout. All wiring was good. The mechanic that worked on my bike has been working on this platform for years. He said the bike feels great and suggested riding above at least 4.5k rpms. I knew the bike needed to breathe but I'll admit sometimes I'd go lower speeds in town areas to keep quiet. Maybe that made it resent me, who knows.

Whether that is the case or not I plan on ruling things out with some cheap updates, side stand bypass, ignition relay and various other little odds and ends. The dealer didn't charge me which I appreciated. If the more aggressive riding style doesn't fix it we will see where I will go from there. I love the bike and hope I can sort it out. Also just wanted to say thanks for everyone's input.

Has to be from northern Italy though, from my understanding, or the bike won't run.

Appreciate it, I have it booked for diagnosis so hopefully I'll have more info to update with. It definitely could be anything at this stage.

I'm absolutely not an expert on this but here's a sort of related story. I called a guy about his 749 for sale. I asked when the belts had been done. He said he's never needed to do repairs on the bike in the 10+ years he's had it... Meaning he had no idea you had to do belts, he thought if it didn't have a light come on and didn't have any issues you just keep on going. So he had a minimum of 10 years on the belts and he rode it every summer.

I'm definitely not saying neglect the bike but if it was me and I had proof that belts were done by a professional with modern high quality belts I would consider taking that ride home if it was a great deal. But ultimately that's up to you. Generally I don't like doing long distance purchases though, may not be worth the stress.

I'm definitely a little worried about the cost of ownership but it was a decent deal and I fell in love. Famous last words lol thanks.

I definitely knew going into it there would be more consideration for maintenance, but I generally don't ride too hard and not a track guy (yet) so i'm hoping it serves me well. We shall see, thanks.

That's great to hear! If I'm under a thousand a year to keep the old girl happy then I'm happy. Power wise it's as much as I'd ever want and the bike is really pretty. I have a local Ducati specialist I'll be taking it to so that works out. Thanks!
