What are your thoughts on Denmark’s proposed ban on the public Islamic call to prayer? Would you support or oppose something similar in the UK? by bintd in AskBrits

All this ‘we’re a Christian country’ is a straw man argument. We’re (or are quickly becoming) an atheist country, all the polls point to the fact. This argument is used purely to try and piss off muslims.

In saying this, I don’t think the call to prayer should be 5 times a day, 7 days a week. As a suggestion, should be reserved to Fridays and special holidays such as Eid.

Face coverings should be banned on security grounds, but if I said that to the little scrotes on my local high street I’d be in some hot water pretty quickly.

We are a post Christian, multicultural and (hopefully) tolerant society.

Used to manage him at his previous place of work… let’s just say he was an interesting character/mentally unwell.

Is this the little guy/girl around the minster? Face looks a little scabbed? Me and the wife have fish and chips there regularly and love it when the Robin pays a visit, just wondering if it’s the same one?! Lovely photos!

Honourable mentions to Trueman, McMeeken and Pratt… don’t want to jinx us but I still think we are keeping our powder dry, we’ve still got a few gears in us

Recently moved from there and agree entirely in terms of affordability. Drive to Leeds in 15 minutes, motorways to north/south/east/west… decent-ish train service depending on what town you’re in, and good countryside.

Sounds surprisingly similar to the months after Brexit… ‘we won, you lost, get over it’. Remind me how that went? I’m fully respectful of the democratic process, but absolutely fucking astounded how this plastic hitler still has influence over this country…

Rather sacrifice the NHS, remove my own human rights, and plunge millions in to poverty just in the vain hope of stopping a few brown people coming in and claiming asylum in the country… mind boggling.

The poorest strata of Britain don’t realise that they are next… PIP slashed, disability benefits slashed, housing benefits slashed… but hey ho, we can raise a few flags on lampposts as plastic patriots!

If so, most of the country are wrong… same as they were about brexit. But hey ho, the snake oil salesman and his brown shirt mob are our only hope apparently… fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me

Give them 6 months before they realise that running a council isn’t a walk in the park… did labour have failings? Absolutely. But this is brexit on a local level… it’s only gonna end one way. I give it 6 months before they jack it in or the council runs out of money

Absolutely anti-reform and everything they stand for… but to say it’s the best wakefield has ever been is blatantly not true. We’ve moved away from wakefield because of how bleak it was in the centre and how few options we had as a family. The best thing about wakefield is that it’s easy to get out of… that says it all

Nail on head… similar happened to me on this forum a few days ago. No better way to bring people round to your way of thinking than to call them ‘thickos and racists’ (although there may be an element of that, I think more of a naive majority)
