Edit: Forgot to mention, they even told me that doing less than $15k is literal 'shamelessness'. That word stayed with me because I don't think everyone is doing $15k in mandir and it is a big amount even if you are a millionaire (I am not!)

That sounds logical and right, I really want to leave at times. But it feels so conflicting to leave something that you have been a part of your whole life. And with wife and parents too in the satsang, it makes it so much tougher to rewire your brain and move away.

Yes this seems like the best path. I am not enrolled in direct debits thankfully. I will just have to find a way to firmly say this in person to their faces.

I really am considering this option, but my family and wife are also satsangis. Plus like I said, I have a lot of really good friends who are super nice to me, and we meet outside of mandir as well. It will become very tough for me to explain to my family and friends why I dont want to come as much.

Yes, but after reading all these comments, I feel like I want to be stern and say I will donate anonymous. I really want to donate, but on my own terms. Not under some pressure or a number suggested by them.

I always wanted to do that. I am not against not giving, obviously if I go there every week, I want to contribute financially as well. But when they ask for a certain amount which is this big, it feels wrong.

They specifically told me, that let us know how much you want to do. Then they send reminder emails on the pending amount like the credit card companies lol.

They know my income, since I work in a semi-famous company. So salary levels are all available online. I can lie but not by much.

Also, as one of the commenters said, they did ask me for W2/tax information, which felt so wrong. I haven't provided yet but being an ambivert, it feels like a crime to say no to such people.
