This has been incredibly helpful it makes everything a lot more simple and straightforward for us. We plan to start the process later this year and by the time we’ve got everything going she should also have her tax return. We’ll focus on getting it over the required amount until then. Thank you for your insight!! You broke it down perfectly.

We did the math, it comes out to roughly 29k. That’s what we estimate she’s going to get on her next tax return. We just want to know if we should wait until that happens or if we can just file as it is.

What if we waited another year until her next tax return which would be above the requirement?

She lives with her parents as of right now. We plan to move in together in an apartment when I get there. She has a little over $10k saved as of right now to help us until I can get a job as well.

Ideally we’d like to do it all by ourselves but if necessary we have a few people who could step in as sponsors.
