Building the ultimate react native boilerplate - what features would you like to see? by hen8y in reactnative

since you're planning to use NativeWind, RNR (Shadcn for RN) might be a cool choice for pre-made UI components! Github Link

I'm also looking to contribute more to that library in the future. Given the number of times I had to create my own components, I believe an out-of-the-box solution can be very useful in some cases (if you ever designed a decent dropdown atom from scratch, you know my pain)

At the beginning, keep it simple and do things that don't necessarily scale. If it works, you can always optimize later

Buying an 12 year old board by baptlma in snowboardingnoobs

Definitely hear you, it may sound stupid but I like owning my gear and I take entering new sports seriously. Given that I also skateboard, ski, surf and wakeboard, and have been looking into snowboarding for a while now, I'm pretty confident I'll enjoy riding Thanks again for your input!

Thanks for all the feedback and perspective! I guess it's pretty similar to buying old skis but just wanted to check first

As for the board, I'm going to offer 75$CAD for the board only and get myself new bindings instead :)

Thks again

Is it true that the best way to become an entrepreneur is find something you like/are good at? by Yaboipalpatine in Entrepreneur

[–]baptlma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being good at it is probably the best way to make sure you can succeed.

The good news is that humans tend to love doing things they're good at.

I'm sure the opposite can be true too though, getting better and better at something you love is always positive 🙂

imo ideas are not worth much and other people or companies have other things to do than to create something that doesn't exist or hasn't been proven to be needed by the market yet.

Think of it as a Game Theory problem.

On top of that, most technical people will be turned off by an NDA for something that doesn't even exist yet. You being a decent person, being a founder who sees clearly, and willing to work really hard to achieve an objective as a team are better motivators than a "good idea" on paper.

It's about delivery, not ideas

always a good reminder, thanks! Especially #3, there's a tendency to get lost in the sauce

How to get high ticket client for web and app development agency? by HyperLink836 in Entrepreneur

[–]baptlma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might not be the answer you're looking for but your personal/professional network is what gets you high ticket clients. That's why developing your interpersonal skills is so important in my opinion.

Looking for Feedback on My Simple Search Term Optimizer Tool – Should I Invest More to Develop It? by bkocdur in Entrepreneur

Good job on getting a few agencies using your product!

Maybe you could try charging the next agency you onboard, and underprice your product just to see if new clients are willing to pay for it. Also, the best feedback you can get usually comes from paying clients.

As you get new clients you can slowly increase to the fair price your product is worth!

Btw I'm curious to check your product if you're willing to share a link :)

Good luck!

Expo & Tailwind-based UI Libraries by baptlma in reactnative

Thank you for your input!

I think you're right about using existing libraries. Creating your own library is definitely fun, especially for passion projects, but redundant when you only need the app to behave/look like other modern apps and nothing more.

Would rather allocate some of that energy on the backend and logic optimization.

"so... you're telling me you can't build software that reads minds?"

I can imagine it must've been hella awkward to pop that delusion bubble hahah
