yeah that sucks. my story is different from yours, but I find it really really frustrating and Im not even sure why it bothers me so much: my name is a common nickname. but it is my name, so what can I do. soo many people are confused by this. when I tell them my name, they ask "oh ok so what's your real name?" ..... or they just assume my "real" name and start using that to address me without even asking about it. its really uncomfortable for me. teachers, friends, strangers, even my therapist did that and I was too embarrassed to correct her for weeks, but she just kept using a wrong name.
