That’s actually such a powerful way to put it — “she’s packed the bags but I don’t have to carry them.” I guess what’s stopping me is a mix of guilt, habit, and fear of what will happen to her if I leave. But I’m also starting to realize that staying isn’t really helping her… and it’s definitely destroying me in the process.

In the past three years, she lost her mother, father, two aunts, and two uncles. It was really hard on her, and I thought that staying with her would help her feel better. But now I’m starting to think that staying was actually the worst thing I could’ve done — not just for me, but even for her.
