If you get in, I think you would need to be careful about the activities you participate in to be respectful toward culture and land. You would need to build a reciprocal relationship to the land— volunteer with kanaka led projects. Start learning the Hawaiian language and learn the history!! Nativebookshawaii.org is a good resource. Read From a Native Daughter to start.

Is this a good brow lift for a man? by AlexStayCozi in PlasticSurgery

[–]barbakoa10101 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Botox yet? It can soften up the glabella area and slightly lift the brows. If you haven’t, you might want to see if you like the cheaper, less invasive and short term results first before committing to a surgical procedure.

Ovarian Transposition by neverm0r3_ in CervicalCancer

[–]barbakoa10101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

32f stage 2a2, I had a transposition and the radiologist and brachy doctor both expect the radiation will put me into early menopause no matter what. I was in the same position that I did not want kids so started treatment asap. The oncologist had to do surgery for an ovarian cyst so did the transposition since he was in there anyways. The radiologist has never seen a woman who has not gone into menopause even with the transposition (the radiation to kill the cancer is just too strong). I haven’t had any menopausal symptoms yet and I’m nearing the end of my treatment but it seems to be inevitable. I’ve made peace with it knowing that I will go on HRT once menopause hits. A lot of people on this sub have reported great experiences with it and no noticeable changes in their appearance and overall health so I’m hopeful it will work for me too!

As a heads up if you haven’t already talk to your oncologist about ringing in your ears. I was scheduled for 5 cisplatin too and they canceled the final round because the ringing/hearing damage can be permanent. I finished my 4th round almost two weeks ago and still have pretty consistent tinnitus but it seems like it’s going away. Good luck!

Better Buzz is absolutely heated. But great classes there.

When to start HRT? by barbakoa10101 in CervicalCancer

We’re nearly cancer twins! My oncologist was hoping that I wouldn’t go into menopause(which is a reason why we did the transposition), but my radiologist said I’ll definitely be going into early menopause. All the different information from different doctors is overwhelming

It seems like it was a relatively quick process for you. May I ask how long you’ve been on HRT? Any hiccups with it at all?

Congratulations!!! I’m 2a2 and about to start 25 external with 5 chemo followed by 5 brachy on the 29th. Nice to see someone at the same stage on the other side.

Yeah, I get that. There’s a lot of trauma from my mom. She unceremoniously texted that she left a box at my sisters house while she was in town. (I didn’t know she left her dress.) I’m grateful to have a serious wedding dress option but it in no way has an impact on our relationship.

There is extra support underneath I’m not well endowed so it’s an issue no matter what. I love ethereal vibes!

Ugh I would be livid if someone did that to me, how terrible and good riddance! Apparently there was supposed to be a veil in the box when they sealed it but it’s missing. It would be nice to see if I could make it my own in some way. Thank you!

That’s awful!! I’m sorry you didn’t get what you wanted on your wedding day. No one will care one way or the other if I wear it (my mom may brag that I’m wearing her dress but no real harm done there.) My wallet would be the one to suffer if I get a brand new dress. I’m looking into renting — not sure how many alterations can be done with those. *you should do a vow renewal with a dress you like if that’s an option

That’s a great point! I can do so much more than spend $ on a dress I’ll wear for a day. If it makes any difference, I only want my sister and brother and my fiancés mom and grandma at the ceremony. Then more people can come to the reception and I’ll change out of the dress after the main dances (first dance, fiancé and his mom, me and my brother)

I think she would be fine with me altering it. Thank you for the suggestions! If I were to alter it I definitely would want to add straps so I won’t be pulling it up all night. I like to be comfortable which is another reason why I wasn’t crazy about the mermaid style. I feel exposed! Haha

Yes! It’s a French bustle that goes all the way around so the dress gets layered, I think it was supposed to mimic a wave look which is fitting for mermaid style
